As a senior writer at Bath & Body Works, one of the Limited's flagship brands, I name and describe body care fragrances and help the design team with concepts for collections. Between 2015 and 2017, the higher education gurus at Ologie, in Columbus, Ohio, employed me to inspire teenagers to visit college campuses and invest in their futures. In the days before Ologie, I was the copywriter at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams (2010 to 2015). There, my duties included: cultivating and maintaining the voice of the company; working with Jeni Britton Bauer on two cookbooks (including the New York Times bestseller/James Beard Award-winning Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home); writing product descriptions; and drafting digital and print advertising, e-commerce, and website copy. Prior to Jeni's, I reported for the daily Columbus Dispatch, covering music and more. In my spare time, I help organize and promote Columbus Fleas (which benefit Planned Parenthood) and hunt for select secondhand records and clothes. I also spend a lot of time exploring Columbus and beyond with my wife, the photographer, graphic designer, librarian, and bookmaker Michelle Salami Dreamin' Maguire.

Just out! The Hollow Vessel, the new Errol Coutinho novel. Wealthy young Rhonda Cunningham wants to go off the grid in the rainforest of the Big Island of Hawaii, but her money puts a target on her back. Will Coutinho get to her first?
Also still available, The Place Of Refuge, the first novel featuring Detective Errol Coutinho of the Hawaii County Police, is available:
Coutinho is part of the world of prostitute Diana Andrews, and they will meet again.
THIS JUST IN.
The first Diana novel, The Same Mistake Twice is now available from the e-book publisher Untreed Reads. All e-book formats are available.
Welcome to home of the Diana Andrews stories. I hope you'll feel free to see what's here. Just don't tell Diana she has a heart of gold.
It might even be true, but she doesn’t want to hear it. She needs to believe that she is the toughest, smartest woman in a hard, cold business. She’s a prostitute who works behind closed doors, where the dangers can match those on the street. Two hundred dollars an hour may sound like a good payday, but sometimes it doesn’t cover the damage.
Diana lives and works in Sussex County in the northern tip of New Jersey. She moves easily between her hardscrabble hometown and the upper middle class suburbs surrounding it. But wherever her business takes her, trouble rides along, because greed, lust and revenge breach all barriers of class and wealth.
The Diana story started as a mental picture of a man and a woman standing by a car on the shoulder of a deserted highway. I was tackling my first assignment in a writing class at the Union County College in Cranford, New Jersey. Somehow I knew the man wanted to kill the woman. I decided that he was a police officer and she a prostitute, and that I wanted her to be the sympathetic character. In finding a plausible motive for the cop, I decided to make that character a woman also, and a victim of sexual jealousy. The story turned out well, but I realized that it read more like the first chapter of a larger work.
That insight set my course for the next ten years. The results include six Diana novels. All are currently unpublished, but the first in the series is due out soon from the ebook publisher Untreed Reads. Their titles are:
The Same Mistake Twice
The Homicide Sisters
The Good Place
More than eighty short stories from the Diana universe have appeared in print and online publications. One story, called Bismarck Rules, is included in the anthology The Best American Mystery Stories 2010, edited by Lee Child and Otto Penzler. More recently, supporting characters from the novel Tentacles, in which Diana travels to the Big Island of Hawaii with a dangerous client, have been carrying some stories of their own.
Why a prostitute? It took me a while answer the question, even as my word count approached the half million mark. I finally decided to stop thinking so much, because it all goes back to my love of dark crime fiction. I concluded that prostitution, with the deception and self-deception that it requires on both sides of the transaction, leads to mayhem of the most fascinating kind.
So, please visit the rest of this website, read a sample story, follow the links to other short stories, and I hope you’ll agree that Diana Andrews lives at the heart of noir.

Do you know the most important question a customer asks before deciding to buy your product?
Every buyer wants to know, "Will this REALLY solve my problem?"
Sales research tells us that 80% of the reason prospects don't buy is fear of failure. Simply put, trust makes or breaks your bottom line.
This begs the question: how do we inspire prospects to trust and buy from us, instead of the competitor down the street? It starts with a powerful, underestimated tool called content.
3 Ways Content Will Help You Attract Your Ideal Customers
Content, whether it's website copy, e-mail marketing, or Linkedin articles, is your opportunity to:
The result? Unlike your competitors, you are not just another piece of fried chicken in a bucket. You're on a whole new menu - the one customers ask for by name. The cycle of building positive connections and trust begins with your written messages.
Meet your new wordsmith.

Hello, my name is Dane Kerne, and I am a technical writer who strives to strike a balance in his writing between the straightforward and the entertaining. I have 16 years of solid, proven professional writing experience that helps me know just how (and when) to brighten content with a metaphor or even some light humor. Humor is relatable, and (at the end of the day), isn't that what we, as technical communicators, want our work to be on some level?
I am in the prime of my professional career: deeply experienced, continuing to learn by completing the Professional Writing program at the University of Houston-Downtown...all while utilizing a strong personal foundation (family, friends, peers) to grow and achieve.
So, let's meet and discuss my future role in your story, one that results in taking your documentation to new heights.
Looking forward to our first conversation (and more),
Dane A. Kerne
My name is Daryl Thompson (a.k.a., "Daryl The Writer"). I am a Professional Namer. I specialize in creating great product and business names. My key objective is to give your company, product and/or innovation name identity.
What’s so important about a name you ask? Everything! Simply put, naming is the single most important piece of marketing you will ever do for your company or product. Your name is the essence of your brand, it defines you. Paraphrasing Mark Twain, “the difference between having the right name and a meteoric name is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.” Naming is my passion and I will take pride in creating a memorable name that will give your brand a boost, set it apart from the competition and put it on the right trajectory.
Along with a memorable name, here are five important reasons why every business should also have its own original tagline:
The right tagline attracts immediate attention to your business
Along with your logo and name, it's part of your brand identity
It's an excellent opportunity to make a powerful statement
It makes it easier to memorize your company's name
It makes you proud of your business image

My specialty is strengthening an organization's reputation, building its brand, and enhancing the relationships it has with its internal and external audiences.
Most recently I was the Manager of Communications for Sarasota County, Florida, where I was responsible for print, online, TV, video and social media communications for the county. Before working for government, I spent several years marketing a global financial-services brand, which resulted in my employer's world ranking rising from 12th to fourth in just one year. I've also been the managing editor for a series of newspapers; and managed corporate communications for a Fortune 500 company.
What I enjoy most is finding the “voice” of an organization and its leaders, then using that voice to speak, write and create marketing collaterals on their behalf, so that measurable results are achieved and goals are reached.
No one should work for as long as I have without amassing many skills and racking up many achievements. I've done both. Here’s what my years of experience bring to the table:

The Courtship of Eva Eldridge
A Story of Bigamy in the Marriage Mad Fifties
"The writing is vivid and tight, with a touch of American noir reminiscent of Raymond Chandler and Joan Didion. Simmons's writing brings to life the dark side of a country trying to move on in the wake of war. She blends history and her own detective work to tell a story of betrayal and shattered dreams." -- Peter Chilson, author, Disturbance-Loving Species: A Novella and Stories. Winner AWP award for creative non-fiction Riding the Demon Road
Diane Simmons has brilliantly used a collection of never-before-seen World War II letters to tell a story that has all the twists of a true crime novel. At its heart, this is a poignant, extraordinary tale of a woman who married a man with a secret and troubling past. **--Andrew Carroll, editor of the New York Times bestseller, War Letter
The Courtship of Eva Eldridge is both a riveting narrative of detection and a moving story about individual lives caught up in the changing gender roles generated by World War II. Diane Simmons employs dogged research, smart analysis, existing scholarship, and lively prose to create a history that is hard to to put down.”**--Susan Hartman, author, The Home Front and Beyond: American Women in the 1940s

I am available for writing or editing:
A decade at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, a master's degree in psychology, and a passion for great stories. An odd combination?
Maybe. But the result is content for financial services and enterprise technology companies that people actually want to read.
The key to effective marketing—content marketing included—is simple but not obvious.
Many businesses do what comes naturally. They talk about stuff they care about—their business and their stellar track record—and might even do a good job explaining highly technical products in words that are easy to understand.
But is that enough for people to keep reading, instead of doing any of the 50 other things demanding their attention?
Only if it's obvious that the business also shares their concerns. Effective content—web copy, blog posts, white papers, case studies or the like—speaks directly to what readers want: answers to their questions and (easy) solutions to their problems.
Content that is useful and enjoyable to read is the only kind that works...to not only attract an audience of potential customers but turn them into loyal fans. Even in financial services, enterprise technology, and other "dry" sectors.
Producing content that works is also an art and a science, and learning how to do it well—just like anything else that's worth doing—can be overwhelming and time consuming.
If you'd rather not spend the time, or don't have it in the first place, contact me at email@example.com. I can help.

Gillian Barker: Research Interests
I am a philosopher of science, with interdisciplinary training in the philosophy, history, and social studies of science from the University of Toronto and the University of California, San Diego. I have research interests in general epistemology of science, in philosophy of biology and environmental philosophy, and in philosophical questions concerning the governance of science, the use of science in governmental policy, and the broader relationship between science and values.
My dissertation was inspired by the strong parallels between theoretical disputes in the study of science and the study of evolution in the last decades of the 20th century, later dubbed the Science Wars and the Darwin Wars. In each case the conflict was between a dominant intellectual tradition that was abstract and universalizing, reductive and atomistic, and a range of newer approaches that emphasized concrete particulars and their diversity and historicity, and the importance of context and of integrated wholes. The dominant approach in each case was ontologically austere, seeking to make sense of its subject matter without recourse to problematic modal notions such as necessity, value, teleological goal or intentional state. The alternative approaches employed richer but more dubious ontologies, and often tried to accommodate or make sense of modal and normative relations as well as teleological and intentional notions such as function, purpose and agency. I saw these disputes as fundamentally misguided. What we want to know about, in understanding the working of science or of evolution, is neither abstract universals nor unique concrete particulars, but the patterns that result from their intersection; neither independent atoms nor all-inclusive purposive wholes, but the structure that results from the ways that parts of the world are integrated and organized, including the structures that we see as good, meaningful or purposive.
Most of my work has been an attempt to understand the reasons for and effects of these schisms, and to explore the kinds of understanding we can achieve when we move beyond them. This leads to certain patterns and emphases in my scholarship: I focus on how we conceptualize the things we try to understand and how apparently incompatible models may be unified or connected, on how a naturalistic understanding can grapple with normative, teleological and intentional concepts, and on causal complexity and its implications for understanding. This broad approach has applications in many different areas of active current research within the sciences–including ecology, immunology, evolution, cognitive science, and the environmental sciences–and for thinking about the sciences and their relationship to a broader context of human concerns and activities. It suggests that several ongoing debates in these fields would be much more productive if they were fundamentally reoriented.
My recent research has focused on complex adaptive systems at different levels of organization, and how science can best grapple with their distinctive features in investigating human immunology, ecological and psychological resilience, evolutionary dynamics, and what evolved human nature can teach us about the prospects for social change. My current research applies similar ideas to the problems of understanding and managing the interconnected global-scale processes upon which human societies depend: what I call "geo-functions." This research connects recent developments in climate science, ecology, agricultural science, and hydrology, and involves extensive collaboration across academic disciplines and with non-academic expert practitioners.
Things to know about the glass pool fencing Sydney
The homeowners of a very spacious property need to put efforts in planning for the correct utilization of the space. One of the best thought is to check out whether a swimming pool can be constructed or not? This will be a source of entertainment for kids but also the other seniors and pets in the house. When you opt for this know that you will also have to think about the many safety measures. It is here that the glass pool fencing will be introduced. You should not skip this important addition to the pool area as your swimming pool should be safe for the kids and elders.
It is obvious that you will come across a number of companies offering this service but you need to analytically figure out the best one. Understand what they have and how much they can help you out. This is the correct way to come up with the most reliable and efficient service provider for the work. You should keep in mind the following features at the time of taking the decision and hiring the best.
Any services offered without the proper facilities will not be famous and so the after-work services are essential. The company should be helpful in the installations but also after the complete task is done the expert should be available. They should not only advice in the glass pool fencing but also for the maintenance of the whole area once the task is completed. This will in a way also solve the many problems for you. The expert team is of the highest importance when customer services are to be considered.
The installation of the glass pool fencing is required for increasing the safety and so the importance of the products used for the same is the highest. With this, a lot of things will simplify and you can easily be sure of absolute safety because there will be breakage at all. Ask them about the many types and price range of glass that they have to fix for you. By then it will be good to know whether it is a worthy investment or not.
The task of glass pool fencing Sydney should not be delayed to the extent that it becomes risky for the homeowners. You should get the terms clear in advance so that no issues arise at the time of the completion of the project. It is always advised to look forward towards a written agreement when you want that the conditions are fulfilled properly.
The glass pool fencing style is also something which has to be thought upon. With the development in the technology, the producers are coming up with too many different shapes and styles of glass pool fencing. You should be able to verify the details before you go ahead with an option. This is really the best idea for the safety of the swimming pool and the property will look attractive too. Look at this website http://www.sloaneaccessories.com.au/product-range to know more about glass pool fencing sydeny.

Just the good ol' boys, never meanin' no harm. Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born. Straight'nin' the curve, flat'nin' the hills. Someday the mountain might get 'em, but the law never will. Makin' their way, the only way they know how, that's just a little bit more than the law will allow. Just good ol' boys, wouldn't change if they could, fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

Hi, I'm Jackie Hutcherson Parker, a St. Louis, Mo.-based communications professional. I'm a 24-year veteran of the newspaper business, most recently as Health Editor at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. I should also mention that my public relations and social media skills got a chance to shine at Lift For Life Academy, the first charter school in St. Louis.
I've written newspaper and magazine articles, edited stories and sections, as well as managed a team of reporters. I enjoy working with writers and helping them brainstorm ideas through to the finished product of a well-crafted story. The journalism skills I've acquired along the way — keeping writers on track, meeting deadlines, working as part of a team or going solo and loving what I do — are vital, especially when your goal is to get your message to a mass audience or a specific one.
Translater - I would enjoy nothing more than working to get your message out there.

Do you remember your first wholly positive writing experience? I can remember as an eight-year-old budding author in my third-grade classroom, always loving to write. With Mr. Davenport at the helm, I wrote many short stories in his classroom. Flashbacks, without a doubt, continually involving haunted houses, werewolves, ghosts, vampires, witches, nearby cemeteries, and most certainly spooky surroundings, are most prominent in my mind regardless of what season it was. I supplied detailed illustrations for each masterpiece as well. I can laugh and appreciate this at the same time! The memories are incredibly fond! If I could, I would like to thank him for giving me the opportunity, in school, for exploring creative writing at such a young age.

Whether you need a useful piece of writing for a business website, a cheeky blog post, or an in-depth edit and critique of your novel, I can help. I am a writer first and foremost, but design, strategy, and social media are a part of what I do as well.
Communications is my passion and I approach it with my workboots on. I am driven to meet my own personal goals by committing to your deadlines, your needs and your budget.
Polished and poised professional with more than 30 years experience as a writer and copy editor. Compassionate and questioning researcher and interviewer who can weave a logical narrative in a chosen voice with strict adherence to style standards and attention to grammar, spelling and punctuation. Expert proofreading skills with an eye for design and detail.
Written works include newspaper and magazine columns, features, news stories and advertorials; press releases; web stories and content; patron, donor, board and alumnae communications; board and committee minutes; grant requests and year-end reports; newsletters (print and electronic), brochures, programs, mailers, ads and email alerts; real estate listings; biography, obituary and homily; business correspondence, documents and quotations; and personal correspondence.
The Nuts and Bolts:
What I do: Project Management and Copywriting.
Working for small businesses in their start-up taught me how to wear a lot of hats, leave my ego at the door, and work together to achieve success for the company or client. One of my greatest strengths is mediating between departments and vendors - whether it's working toward product, website, or brand development.
I'm a sucker for the arts. I started moonlighting at a non-profit art-house cinema four years ago and would still be there had I not moved to Chicago. I also served on the board of a non-profit arts organization heading up communications, public relations and co-organizing fundraising campaigns.
I love working intimately with a particular brand, but I find doing freelance copywriting to be invaluable for developing my ability to write for different brands, companies, and voices.
I have an educational background in writing and literature, a chunk of which was paid for by teaching Composition and Creative Non-Fiction Writing to university students.
The first time I actually got paid to write and edit was during my seminary days while getting my MA in Theological Studies. I made my spending money editing other students' theses and writing youth devotional stories for a Christian publishing company.

I can honestly say that writing is my life. I've loved music ever since I was a young child bobbing my head in the backseat of my aunt's car singing a grown up song like I knew what I was talking about (laughs). Maybe it has something to do with the fact that while in the womb my mom would always play music; maybe it was simply meant to be. Here I am, Malecia Bynum 25 years later an established songwriter and storyteller. My very first song "Best Friend" took 3 years to complete and since then, I made it a mission to just be me. My songwriting has evolved over the past few years and I'm very proud of my writing style. I have ability to pull deep within myself and creatively depict how I'm feeling and what I'm going through and I also have the ability to transform into another moment, another life and express what "they" deal with and how "they" feel. My songwriting depicts both nonfiction and fictional accounts but my fiction may be your nonfiction and vice versa. I write because it makes me feel good; it gives me hope that one day I will be able to bless the world with the gift God gave me. I'm ready for a new project so feel free to check out some songs in my Writing Samples and let me know what you think and if you're ready to work, then let's go!

HI, I’M MARCIA, A FREELANCE WRITER, COPYWRITER AND CONTENT STRATEGIST SPECIALIZING IN HEALTH AND MEDICINE.
I’m a healthcare geek who honed my geekdom as a journalist. I’ve written hundreds (and hundreds) of healthcare and medical stories and spent nearly nine years writing and editing a daily and weekly health-policy newsletter.
American healthcare, I learned, may well be the most complex human system on the planet.
Public- and private-sector roles intertwine in the health economy as they do nowhere else. Healthcare is the stage on which many of the most compelling human stories play out. And the medical sciences, as a biologist told me a while ago, “aren’t rocket science. They’re way more complicated.”
All this fascinates me. So I’m excited to help with the tough marketing and communications jobs health organizations juggle.
...BUT HOLD ON A MINUTE. WHAT DOES HIRING A FREELANCER FEEL LIKE FOR YOU?
On your side of the fence, bringing on an outside writer to help with important projects can cause more worry than excitement.
Your field is complicated, deadlines loom. Adding an unknown quantity to the mix is scary.
If a freelancer fails to keep you updated on a project or falls behind, an already stressful schedule gets tougher.
And bringing new writers up to speed?...Not always easy.
How fast will a newbie absorb necessary background information and learn details of your business to produce copy that’s on point and showcases your uniqueness?
Can your new writer turn complicated scientific or economic ideas into clear compelling content by deadline? How long until she’s comfortable with your audience – their language and issues?
HOW CAN MY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE HELP YOU?
A professional writer for nearly 30 years, I’ve met daily, weekly and biweekly deadlines as both a print and an online journalist. I’ve written copy and marketing content, books, speeches, multimedia materials, education and training materials and plays. I've ghostwritten articles and books.
Together with a graphic-design team, I managed a complete visual and content redesign of an association magazine. And I have been – and am -- a constant student of all the forms of writing I practice and more.
So you’ll never have to worry about projects falling behind. Or that I won’t work systematically or keep you updated on my progress while we work together.
Copy and content I deliver will help set you apart from competitors. That’s because I have the reporter’s habit of digging for details that make stories unique rather than generic.
And I love doing interviews – I’ve conducted thousands. So I’m adept at helping interviewees relax and asking the right follow-up questions.
You won’t need to educate me on the basic business, economic, policy and scientific concepts of the medical and healthcare worlds, thanks to my experience. Plus, I have a good handle on how to research what I don’t know. So you’ll spend less time getting me up to speed.
I’ll bring ideas and suggestions to the table. So you don’t have to do all the creative heavy lifting if you don’t want to.
I also know the people and organizations you market to, be they patients, employers, payers, or practitioners. I’ve met them. Listened to them and talked with them. Written to and about them.
So I have a head start on developing the right messages -- in the right words and style-- to connect with your readers and customers.
WANT TO KNOW MORE?
Or get in touch today by email to talk about how I can help you meet your goals.
Welcome and thank you for visiting my online portfolio.
My qualifications include a healthy sense of curiosity, a playful sense of humor and the ability to connect your target audience to your story. I have all the usual stuff, too, like experience and education.
I am capable of ramping up quickly to understand your business or industry. I work to ensure your goals are met within stated deadlines.
Over the span of my career, I have written in the following categories:
News Internet Public Relations Press Releases Non-profit Creative Writing - Fiction Feature Editorial Advertising - Print, Radio, Television
So, take a look and let's talk. I look forward to hearing from you!
Marcia Horn Noyes began her career as a television reporter with KBMT-TV in Beaumont, Texas. At the age of 19, she got her “lucky break” after applying for a position in the production department. Being too young and inexperienced, she was promptly turned away, but hours later, a production crew member tragically fell from a ladder and broke his back. With her job application sitting atop the production manager’s desk, Marcia got the first call to run studio cameras that night. Three months later, the news department moved her into a reporter position and she began reporting news in the Golden Triangle area.
After her stint as the station's youngest television reporter, she moved on to Corpus Christi, Texas where at the age of 24, became the youngest branch manager for a broadcast television equipment company. After ten years in management and account management roles, she returned to writing, first freelancing for local newspapers and magazines, then taking on more prominent roles as Marketing and PR Director for regional publications and eventually a healthcare technology start-up in Denver, Colorado.
Marcia uses her outside passion for long-distance running and varied communications experience to enhance her writing. She now enjoys producing stories and online content that educates, enlightens and inspires an audience; in particular, being drawn to topics related to business, fitness, health, frugality and lifestyle, as well as producing celebrity profiles.
She has written for local, regional and national publications, including Denver Post, Journal of Urgent Care Medicine, Kids' Pages Family Magazine, Southern Living, Enlightened Woman and Chicken Soup for the Body & Soul. Her television work has also appeared on CNN and ABC Morning News.
Marcia is a native Texan and received her B.S. in Mass Communications from Lamar University. She now writes from her homes in Denver, CO and New Braunfels, TX.
Over the years, my targeted writing skills have helped companies and organizations achieve success. Here is some of my representative work. To view more, click Writing samples.
The creative process is a mystery. A composer hears notes and creates a symphony. An artist has a vision and puts brush to canvas so we, too, can see. A marketing communications writer is able to distill information and present it in a way that informs, persuades, and perhaps even entertains. Words form in my head. I can't explain how. It just happens.
Writing is my passion and during my career, I've written in many formats. No matter the form or the scope, my work carries a common thread. I offer excellent writing carefully crafted to meet the client's needs and objectives. And, I'm fast.
Improve your business and profession standards all with the help of effective streams which are making you better than ever before all with the help of the smart ever digital currency, then wait no more and go for the right deal which can help you do better in your profession and look for the most productive measures.
My life and career have been focused on the power of words. Words that convey ideas clearly and invite people to take action. I 've been in the word business for more than 20 years, working in venues that include a Fortune 15 healthcare company, an academic hospital, one of the most esteemed medical schools in the U.S, a healthcare consulting company and most recently, medical communications agencies. My audiences span:
I have created, edited and managed the following from inception through distribution:
So whether you need extra support for a single project or have ongoing needs, I can deliver a broad array of high quality communications that get results.
Marla Cantrell’s stories have appeared in Do South Magazine, @Urban Magazine, Deep South Magazine, Wordhaus, and several anthologies. In 2014, she received the Arkansas Arts Council Fellowship Award for Short Fiction. She’s also won state and regional awards for several of her short stories.
Marla is a freelance writer, and the managing editor and lead writer for Do South Magazine, headquartered in Arkansas. Each month, the magazine publishes one of her short stories. To date, she’s published more than 70 stories, all set in the South. She is also a writing coach, helping other writers achieve their goals.
Currently, she is putting the final touches on a collection of short stories called A Million Shattered Stars. She is also writing a novel set in Arkansas, based on a true story of hope at a time when hope was in short supply.
Marla lives on a piece of land that gives her a view of the Boston Mountains. When she returns from a week of travel writing, she loves to sit on the porch and watch night fall in this place she calls home.
Words. I'm a freelance writer and they've been my business and pleasure for more than 20 years. Whether writing national newspaper features and books, producing revealing case studies or creating search engine-friendly business copy - I still get the same buzz from meeting a new client or opening a blank page, as a:
I'm experienced and efficient, fast and friendly. I work with you to tell your story on page or on screen - because the science of coding might help attract browsers, but it's the art of inspirational copy which captures and converts them to consumers.
From food to travel, from heritage to social and environmental concerns, I'm a specialist writer with wide interests and a great curiosity. Here are just a few pieces which demonstrate my range. There are plenty more examples on my 'Some I Did Earlier' page, so please feel free to browse...
Over the years, I've thought a lot about what it is that I actually do. More than anything else, I think I'm in the business of trust - the trust you need from clients in order for them to choose to do business with you. We all know how complicated health care is. Its unique function, language, cost structure, set of legislated provisions, regulations, and policies – and range of perspectives on dealing with them.
Consulting as a senior-level writer and strategist for a diverse group of leading health care companies, I hear the disparate conversations taking place across the industry. Recognizing where everyone is coming from helps me to craft precise messages for targeted audiences.
Sure, I can save you time, too. Knowing just what to say and how to frame it helps get to the point, fast. It's also little things like avoiding misplaced modifiers and knowing where all of those little marks - "[,/(%?])"' - go. And of course it's the big things, like getting the flow of the copy right. It's avoiding what could stop a document dead at regulatory or a clinician's review and send it screaming back with strikes and revisions.
But more than anything else, it's about trust These days, we're pouring so much effort into SEO outreach and strategies that implore clients to check us out - that increase search engine rankings. That generate leads. And yes, this is key. However, in the rush to get it all out, we have to remember two things: First, we need someone on the other side with decision-making capacity or who can at least recommend us to decision makers. (Are we hitting our targets or talking to the wind?) Second, we need every engagement with decision makers to be positive. To be awesome. This is why I believe each message we send and the way we deliver it must convey all of our talent and competence - right from the start. It's about conveying trust. Yes, I'm a writer, but what I really offer is trust - trust in you.

Hi, I’m Maura Hutchinson. I am a copywriter and content editor with experience in luxury fashion, sports and early years childcare.
Please have a look around my site to learn more about me and to see examples of my work, past and present.
Copywriter / Content Marketing
Absolutely! As a content marketing manager, I utilize both minds - analytic and creative - with great success.
I don my analytic/critical thinking hat to dive into research and uncover the challenges, needs, and desires of my target audience or prospective clients; develop marketing strategies, and write valuable content (always mindful of search engine optimization). By studying trends and web analytics, I uncover opportunities and best practices for creating new content and developing campaigns.
More on the left side: I'm a huge grammar nerd and adhere to AP Style. My pet peeves are the misuse of commas and semicolons, run-on sentences, and improper paragraph breaks. Give me an editing pen and let me go to work!
Of course, the creative/intuitive aspect of copywriting and content marketing also brings great reward. Curating information and offering a new twist, crafting a compelling article or blog post, finding just the right image to complement the copy, creating a PPC ad that delivers leads and developing new campaigns all go under the category of "Why I Love My Job".
When creativity meets strategy, that's when the magic happens! My goal is to write content that delights, informs, inspires...and ultimately "moves the needle" to deliver measurable results. Bringing a smile to my reader's face? Offering valuable solutions to build trust? Priceless!

A seeker and observer, I choose curiosity to guide me as a writer and editor.
In reporting news, I aim to be an objective observer, keenly listening for the lede that will best recount a true story to readers. In writing essays, I tap my instincts, experience and education to uncover and explore distinct particulars of a topic, idea, event, movement, person or community.
You'll find me with my notepad pursuing my next story somewhere in Greater Detroit, usually on the Eastside.
A few nights a week, I put my notepad down and pick up my hockey stick to pursue a puck.

Are you fed up with calling a mechanic everytime you need to fix any of your home’s corner? Then why don’t you make a smart move and know about the different styles of CNC bits available in the market and making you a wise person having smart skills.
My name is Nicole Meyers and I am a communications professional and writer living in the Silicon Valley area. I am currently communications manager at realtor.com in Santa Clara, Calif. With a wide variety of editorial and communications experience, including one year working in the newspaper world and more than seven years of experience in corporate/internal communications, I am able to provide a unique and nimble communications perspective.
I love learning about different types of communications and the innovative tools used to bring them to the customer, whoever it might be. I produced and managed the launch of realtor.com's new corporate blog, Home Made and am currently editor-in-chief on top of managing employee communications for the company. I find passion and great joy in internal communications because I truly believe that employees who are communicated to clearly and often make a company better. They are heartbeat of every business and I love being an advocate for them.
If I could only sing as well as I write ...
My writing "voice" covers at least three octaves, from the low, steady notes (serious news writing, reports and training manuals) to middle-C level (brochures, corporate communications and letters) to the upper ranges (e-blasts, e-newsletters, ads, promos, direct mail, radio spots). I successfully change my pitch depending on my audience.
I'm a writer and editor with additional experience as a broadcast producer, newscaster and reporter. I've studied several foreign languages, traveled internationally many times and experienced life to the fullest. As a result, my writing is enhanced by all that I've seen, done and read.
I will admit it: I am a travel junkie with no interest in any type of a 12-step program to tame my addiction. I live and breathe international travel. Throughout my many journeys, I've gathered recipes, spices and strange cooking utensils (such as a weird little lime squeezer that I talked the owner of an Indian restaurant in Manchester, England, into selling me). Food has to be my second passion, and I love to infuse my writing with as much spice and variety as I do in my recipes.
Describing nuts and bolts may not be as exciting as describing a desert trek through the Sahara on the back of a camel, but it's certainly something I can do. I'm quick, versatile and can write about anything with enthusiasm and in any style that's required.

Welcome to my Homepage! Having retired (Spring 2012) from a 24-year volunteer-role as CoSec/CFO/trustee of Learning Through Action, an education charity (after ‘winding it up’ due to ‘the cuts’ in UK education funding) I found I had time to attempt a sort-out of my personal ‘archives’ (otherwise known as ‘all that clutter’). Two old storage boxes of yellowing paper were a particularly dusty challenge. I was fairly certain these boxes contained my past ‘writings’, but would have found it difficult to be more specific. After some enjoyable days spent deciphering my handwriting I began to think that there might be quite a few short stories, anecdotes, articles and abandoned novels that, if ‘word-processed’ and ‘copy-edited’ with a more contemporary eye, might be appreciated by a wider readership. Launching this personal website is hopefully a first step to setting up a means of disseminating my ‘refurbished’ work and new material. As they say, ‘Please watch this space!’

Are you a manufacturing, engineering or HSE business looking for a great writer who understands the technology you work with? You need a qualified engineer with a flair for written communication.
My niche is white papers, blog content, articles and inbound marketing material - anything that has a technical edge to it.
I have written articles on behalf of clients for publications like the World Fertilizer Magazine. I have also contributed to the Solufy blog and Trenchlesspedia.
Working as an engineer in the Oil and Gas sector has given me a broad experience base. My technical expertise covers manufacturing, project management, maintenance and reliability. I have also managed a quality laboratory and gained a working knowledge of health and safety equipment. It goes without saying that an emphasis on environmental systems and performance is part and parcel of working in the oil industry.
My love for writing has developed from my work with NGOs - where I have gained experience in written and oral communication. It has surprised me how much I have enjoyed telling stories and getting a message across to a desired audience.
In the last 3 years I have actively combined my engineering and communication experience as a freelance writer.
My clients include the Justrite Manufacturing Group, Reliance Foundry and Salym Petroleum Development.
I am currently living in the idyllic paradise of Mauritius, where I continue to do work for a religious non-profit and to provide professional freelance writing services.

Having this career means I get to be a student of anything and everything, and I couldn't ask for more. Thank you for your interest in my work.
In the late 1980s and '90s I created two national collecting crazes -- vintage lunch boxes and vintage cereal memorabilia -- by amassing collections at flea market prices, writing several reference books, launching zines (Hot Boxing and Flake), and flogging it all on radio and TV to enjoy an exploding market and my 45 minutes of fame. Terry Gross was irritating, Matt Lauer smarmy, while Charlie Rose was a riot in person. Madonna once called me in the middle of the night to chat. The downside of a profile in People is getting recognized in line at the post office or in the men's room at Logan.
Most of my writing then served those grandiose schemes, which paid off in many ways. ABCNEWS.com once wrote, "there's a fine line, sometimes, between madness and genius. And Bruce is undeniably a genius, at least when it comes to getting publicity for a pop-culture phenomenon."
Flattering words -- thank you Mr. George Mannes -- but let's face it; I was a better promoter than writer. To paraphrase Freud, my licks inevitably encouraged regression in service of sales. Short, funny pieces to get you laughing --and buying -- were my strength. My most reputable work, a 300 page history -- Cerealizing America: The Unsweetened Story of American Breakfast Cereal-- was co-authored with an another, more disciplined writer, who held my feet to the narrative fire. However, the sidebars from that book -- sampled here -- are all mine.
But that was another incarnation. After 9/11 cleared our skies I wasted a few years crafting a wildly ambitious historical novel about Cromwell, indentured servitude, and the founding of Maine in the 17th century-- I have ancestral connections to the people and places -- but it never panned out. Loved the research in England, Ireland, and the Isle of Shoals, but discovered that I didn't have the chops for fiction. Or screen writing, for that matter. Too loyal to facts.
Still, I can string a few words together when required. A blog might be just the ticket. Try me. I'm not a Jimmy Buffett fan, but if you understand that Margaritaville is a metaphor, not a town on the Mexican border somewhere, we'll probably get along.
Love that salt!

By way of a career in trend forecasting, advertising, and a long time love for fashion and pop culture and social issues, I left a full time job at a major ad agency one year ago to focus on a career as a writer. Sure, it's great to work in my pajamas and spend much needed time with my dog, but what's even cooler is people are reading what I have to say. When social media first came around, I was an avid Facebooker- updating statuses and sharing links with vigor. It seemed that my friends were digging it all, so I decided to start a blog that spoke to all the things I love- my muses, fashion sightings, social commentary, and inspirational musings for those looking to agent up a little change in their own lives. I started the blog with no other intention than to start writing on a daily basis- I majored in Journalism in college and writing came very easily to me- and throughout my work life, it didn't. Just like that.
The daily blogging helped me get my groove back, and from that came assignments from brands, marketing communications agencies, and high profile exec types that needed some help from a ghost writer. I love finding the voice of people I admire and enjoy writing op eds, social commentary, and blog posts for those that are too overscheduled to do it themselves. I also love writing about trends, discovering small blips and seismic shifts that affect where we are and where we headed. I read voraciously and have moved back to New York so that I can fully explore what the greatest city in the world has to offer in terms of my creative endeavors. I am always not only seeing what's in the stores, at the movies, or in the restaurants, but really "looking" to spot what's coming.
I can write about most topics from women's issues and trends to healthcare to sex to fashion to music to politics. I love researching, finessing, and taking my voice to today's content driven world. My style is editorial, breezy, bold, and approachable. I'm happy to be here and more than happy to work with you. Please visit my blog at http://sherimaven.posthaven.com/ to get a sense for the things I dig on most days.
Sheridan Scott, Marketing Communications Manager and Content Strategist
With a career that started in the publishing industry and took a sharp turn into marketing communications via writing and editing, I have quickly embraced the addition of the content notch to my marketing belt. From creating a successful content strategy to producing individual pieces within collateral portfolios, my goal is to maintain a company's brand across all of its marketing vehicles, both digital and print. I participate in (and thoroughly enjoy) every step of the process, including brainstorming, outlining, writing, editing, art directing, production and distribution.
I have worked on a lot of projects for clients.
I'm one of those writers who knows that 'a lot' is always two words. In case you're wondering what type of professional I am.
As a freelancer, I do things like writing, editing, and publishing content for SEO articles, blog posts, academic writing, press releases, marketing copy, social media posts, radio and print advertising. I have also managed social media analytics and paid ad campaigns. I have proven my ability to adjust my writing voice for varying brands and industries and may have an occasional overuse of the Oxford comma.
When I'm not writing for clients, I maintain a personal blog, where I keep it light and attempt to be funny.

Any story can be compelling when written in the right voice. My 20-plus years experience in writing and editing have helped me find and develop the right voice – be it my own or yours – for web copy to white papers, manuscripts to manuals. I approach editing other’s work the same way I approach crafting my own: with an eye towards clear, dynamic prose that engages the reader while preserving the author’s intention.
Though I have written copy for financial institutions and covered raccoon dinners, the bulk of my experience is in educational and training materials, the arts, elder care and community-centered organizations. I ghost wrote a book and specialize in editing papers and publications by non-writer experts, including non-native English speakers. I have collected strengths from a career spanning journalism (BA), promotions and creative writing (MFA), all of which, I have found, can feed the others.
Curiosity and love of language drive my attention to detail and ever-primed creativity. My enthusiasm and good humor are supported by diligence and a strict adherence to deadlines.
Successful brands exhibit one common strength: The ability to make an authentic connection. Great copy tells a story, inspires an emotion, elicits a knowing laugh, feels like a friend.
In my 15+ year career, I've been the voice of some of the world's most recognized brands, as well as some extraordinary local businesses. I've written for a variety of mediums – from digital content and print ads to social media posts, feature-length articles and just about everything in between.
Stick around and check out some samples or contact me at email@example.com.

I can either mentor you on the work it willt ake to meet your business goals and provide reports on your success, or you can be more hands off and I can take the reins. Services I might recommend we tackle together include the following:
I enjoy work that inspires new interests and enlightens me to new possibilities which is why I love working with small and medium sized businesses. I have experience in a wide range of industries and would love to talk to you about my past successes working with businesses in your sector. My name is Dr. Stephen Shaw. My educational background began in Illinois with a major in philosophy at Tolentine College (Villanova University). I then spent four years in Rome, Italy, where I studied a variety of theological subjects, from Comparative Religions, to Old and New Testament Studies, to Biblical archeology (yes, we did scour the catacombs!). While studying in Europe I had the opportunity to attend a number of language institutes, both in Vienna, Austria, Madrid, Spain, and Fribourg, Switzerland (French-speaking). It was a wonderful opportunity to learn other languages and appreciate other cultures. One incident I will never forget. In 1969, I was visiting Prague, Czechoslovakia, on a day-trip from Vienna, and ended up in the middle of the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. We were quickly told by the American embassy to grab our things and take the first bus back to Austria. Soviet tanks rumbled into Prague as we passed headed west towards the Austrian border. It was as you can imagine an unnerving experience but one I won’t easily forget.
Welcome! I'm Steve Dimeo and, inspired at first by the likes of Poe, have been writing fiction and poetry since the late Fifties. My work might best be characterized as romantic yet realistic fantasy and horror, often with a science-fiction or supernatural bent. My first published novel, The Magic Cape Caper, will be available November 13, 2017, and is the first in the Nick Christmas mystery series featuring the titular detective and his charming sidekick Miranda (Randi). The second novel in the series, Search for the Golden Diamond of Kolimar, will be published in late 2018. I started writing novels in 1970 and have since penned over 30 book-length works, over half within the last four years.
My fiction has appeared in magazines over the last forty years as varied as Playboy's Oui Magazine and Woman's World to the Michigan Quarterly Review, Descant and Amazing Stories. I was awarded the 1984 Frank O'Connor fiction award in 1983 as well as Tall Tales' 2nd Prize ($250) in 2006. I've also won 3rd Place in the 1984 National Writer's Club competition, 1st Place in Oregon's 1996 Bright Wings Poetry Contest (published in The Oregonian) as well as publication in the 2003 Emily Dickinson Awards Anthology and placed two short stories in CrossTime's Science Fiction Anthology in 2008 and 2010.
I am a full-time, New York-based freelance writer/researcher/project manager with a long track record working in the corporate, nonprofit, and government sectors.
Over the last two years, I've been freelancing for the Type Directors Club, the Department of Commerce, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Corporate Communications team in New York City.
For Type Directors, I've created all the daily content for their social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter), which reach over 111,000 type enthusiasts worldwide. For MTA, I have reported and written stories for the daily employee on-line newsletter on a wide range of topics, including Arts for Transit, new software deployments to enhance productivity across agenices, profiles of outstanding employees, and what goes on behind the scenes at the Business Service Center, the largest government shared-services operation in the United States.
Recently, I served as the lead writer for several toolkits published by the National Telecommunications & Information Administration at the Department of Commerce that helped local governments take the right steps to implement broadband infrastructure and smart-city initiatives.
My other recent work includes an arts and culture blog on soon-to-close museum shows, ItsNewstoYou; grant writing, brochures, web copy, donor, and promotional materials for arts nonprofits in New York City. Past work also includes scripts for fund-raising spectaculars, art reviews, and think pieces.
I also launched a report series on how museums in New York, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia use social media.
My experience also includes working for large consulting and financial firms, supporting professionals by performing “hard to find” research, drafting policy papers and corporate presentations, crunching numbers for graphic displays, and wrangling/managing input from international teams that have been asked to contribute to corporate publications.
Take a look at my writing samples, which show a variety of styles:

Every customer has a story. Content provides the means to discover and share their story to build trust.
Content is about connecting with B2B and B2C customers in an entertaining and informative way so they see you as a valuable and trusted resource.
But writing alone is not enough. The back-end of effective content involves strategy and goals. Every piece of content should have a purpose and it should be monitored, measured, and repurposed across multiple channels so you get the maximum value for your investment.
Here are just a few of the goals your content should achieve at different stages of the funnel:

Hi, you've reached Tim Harding. I'm not home right now. Please leave a message after the tone.
Hi Tim, what do you do?
So, why do you have a website?
Well, um... I don't know really. Sometimes I update my blog so that people (the two or three who read it) know what I'm up to (Hi Mum!).
What are you doing here with a Writer's Residence website?
Is that sensible?
Possibly not, WriRes is designed to meet a very specific need for a very specific customer but I might just learn something about it if push its limits a bit.
Do you fancy yourself as a bit of a writer then?
No. Not even a little bit. But I can type so sometimes I mash keys to find out what emerges.

Aged care for any nursing home Box Hill, Melbourne, Sydney, Blackburn in Australia is a nursing subfield that involves the care of elderly patients. It's a fast-growing race, and it's expected to be continuously in demand over the next few years because now is the time for retirement for baby boomers when they are likely to need more health care services than any of the others age groups. Which service is provided by the nurse in the Nursing home? A nurse who specialises in this field, better known as gerontology, has been trained to understand the needs of older patients and meet their complex physical, mental and emotional health requirements. She closely monitors medical conditions that can occur unprecedentedly and quickly and coordinates with the respective families of patients. There are also occasions when a geriatric nurse works side by side with family caregivers, teaching them appropriate methods to care for older family members while dealing with more complex nursing tasks.
Research and report says about a nursing home in Australia Many of the reports say over the years described that is the subject of the poor and sometimes the inhumane treatment by the stretched staff and it became wore for some. As per the 2013 report, there are lots of the cases are registered in the nursing home of Blackburn, Box Hill, Melbourne and many another city, in Australia. The Alzheimer’s case, the assault case, forcible sedated are registered in the nursing homes. The urine –soaked beds, and worse than that is done in the nursing home. Plenty of deaths have been attributed in the nursing home management. There are many good nursing homes in the Australia such as Vermont Aged Care- Family Run Aged Care, but there amid bad ones. It is since 1981, and care for the aged people providing the safe and secure home. More than 170, 000 elders Australians already lived in the Nursing homes, and 83% of the home required the extra care, and 60% residents have dementia, 50% have urinary incontinence, 45% have a sleep disorder, 40-80% have chronic pain and 30-40% have the depression. The complex conditions, and other conditions combination requires the highly skilled nurses and who has experience, support the doctors and allied health providers. Wrapping out...
Rather than concentrating on the future of the nursing home in Box Hills, Australia, focus on the requirements and need of the current generation that can manage the aged care in Box Hills, Nursing home in Blackburn, Nursing home in Melbourne and in many cities from Australia. The well informed and experienced current generation can easily manage the situation of the nursing home, and give the sympathy to aged people and properly take care of them. I am a Texas bookworm who moved to Washington D.C./Northern Virginia to create information technology products for very large NASA, DoD, and GSA projects. I soon learned that presenting technical and business information that was readable and compelling was not for sissies. It became my goal to capture the right information, perform deep and thoughtful analysis, and present findings suited to the audience. I created hundreds of professional business proposals and resumes, basing my approach on solid marketing techniques, and began to write technology blogs and articles. At the same time, I pursued my interest in reading and reviewing biographies and true stories of achievement, especially as related to writing, science, and exploration. From the first book I read on the famous and mysterious Tutankhamen, I have tried to understand new universes, ancient civilizations and those who have the courage to explore new ideas and places. I read books about polar exploration, accounts from World Wars I and II, and biographies of writers and scientists in search of heroic deeds and people. I look for real characters who inhabit exotic and dangerous environs, and who face far more trouble than I ever have.
Vin Phoenix (originally David North), was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1973. Growing up in the suburb of South New Brighton, when not at school, Vin spent a large amount of his childhood years at the local parks and the beach. Vin went to the local school of South New Brighton primary and at the age of 11 discovered a passion for creative writing.
At high school Vin pursued subjects which would help with his goal of becoming a bestselling author, becoming one of only two male typing students at his school.
"At the age of 15 there was nothing better than being in a class full of young women, even if I did get looked at strangely sometimes. It was worth it. Even if it didn't help my dating life very much at the time."
Vin spent some time away from the world of writing after he left high school, moving around New Zealand and pursuing retail jobs before deciding to become more involved again with crafting stories.
"I always used to write, but it was something that I did spasmodically. I didn't really know what I was doing, and there was no training available at that stage at all. I'd kind of given up in a lot of ways. But, that changed when I found an add in the local paper for a creative writing course based in Australia. I did it by correspondence and slowly I began to gain a bit more confidence. It wasn't exactly a good time in my life though, and it took me a long time to complete it."
At the age of 34 Vin moved to Wellington where he completed a Certificate in Comprehensive Writing that he had started when still living in Christchurch and an Historical Fiction Writing Certificate. At the same time he studied a Diploma in Creative Writing and an Advanced Diploma in Creative Writing from Whiteria Polytechnic. After this he completed a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in history and English, with a strong emphasis on creative writing related subjects, and at the same time completed a Certificate in Arts. His final course was a Diploma of Publishing, also from Whiteria Polytechnic, which he completed in 2015.
"Yeah, you could say I overdid it in the qualification department. But, people underestimate the value of getting educated when it comes to creative writing. I think it's because there is this idea out there that crafting stories is easy, that you can just pick up a pen and write. But, there's a lot more to it than that, as any writer will tell you."
Vin currently lives in Wellington where he continues to write horror and fantasy stories. His tales are known for their uncompromising style and dark themes.

I am a writer. I am a writer. I am a writer.
I had to learn to say those four little words without adding the proverbial "but". And finally ... it stuck.
I write because I must, because somehow it helps me to work through the "conundrums" that are my life. And I write to tell the stories for those who cannot.
MEADOWLARK, my first published work of literary fiction, was released by NeWest Press September 2015. Please see "Writing Samples" and "NOVELS" for an excerpt.

As a skilled and seasoned marketer, business writer, graphic designer and manager, I seek to secure a position which will utilize all my skills to help companies or agencies improve their sales, services, outreach or donations. I am particularly adept at conception and writing of consumer, business-to-business, non-profit marketing materials.
My "marketing communication" skills developed (evolved?) as did my computer design skills–both on Mac and PC. Those of us who've been doing this for years might remember "Ventura Publisher." I cut my PC design skills on that venerable but flawed PC platform. But my skills truly took flight when I became one of the "charter" Mac users in 1984...using the 1.1 version of PageMaker by Aldus. Even though the first Mac had only 16 fonts and NO HARD DRIVE, I still managed to design, write, edit and publish a national labor relations newsletter.
My innate writing skills developed at the same time and along-side my computer design skills...soon merging into one single, integrated process. Now I find it not only "natural" but "automatic"...even "necessary" to write and design complex documents each at the same time. Call it "WritingDesign" if you will.
Excellent writing, as it must, encompasses not only creativity but precision. I am an extremely fast and correct typist, grammarian, editor and proof-reader.
