As a senior writer at Bath & Body Works, one of the Limited's flagship brands, I name and describe body care fragrances and help the design team with concepts for collections. Between 2015 and 2017, the higher education gurus at Ologie, in Columbus, Ohio, employed me to inspire teenagers to visit college campuses and invest in their futures. In the days before Ologie, I was the copywriter at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams (2010 to 2015). There, my duties included: cultivating and maintaining the voice of the company; working with Jeni Britton Bauer on two cookbooks (including the New York Times bestseller/James Beard Award-winning Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home); writing product descriptions; and drafting digital and print advertising, e-commerce, and website copy. Prior to Jeni's, I reported for the daily Columbus Dispatch, covering music and more. In my spare time, I help organize and promote Columbus Fleas (which benefit Planned Parenthood) and hunt for select secondhand records and clothes. I also spend a lot of time exploring Columbus and beyond with my wife, Michelle Maguire.

Just out from Frayed Edge Press, Pele's Domain. "The eruption of Kilauea on the Big Island of Hawaii tests Officer Jenny Freitas like nothing else in her young police career. It’s not enough that she finds a murder victim in a doomed house just seconds before the lava overwhelms it. A second victim draws Jenny back to the danger zone again and again. Maybe the goddess Pele isn’t satisfied with owning the islands. Maybe she, and the killer, want Jenny too." Number five in the Street Smart Series of dark crime novelettes. Available from the publisher or Amazon
The third installment in my Big Island of Hawaii series is The Honorary Jersey Girl. It's just out from Shotgun Honey:
Criminal defense attorney Agnes Rodrigues got her client Hank Alves acquitted of a murder in the rainforest of the Big Island, but the victim was a cop’s wife, and a case like this doesn’t end with “not guilty.” When someone takes a shot at her client, and that someone looks like a cop, Agnes knows no one in Hawaii will take on the job of protecting Hank.
Agnes travels to New Jersey to hire ex-prostitute Diana Andrews and her crew of bodyguards, who have a reputation as the toughest in the business. But Diana refuses the job. The Jersey girl has been to the Big Island before, and it almost killed her. Diana’s own people persuade her, but her decision puts her in the cross hairs with Agnes.
The bodyguards are soon earning their payday, but nobody can be protected forever. Keeping Hank alive means finding the real killer, and Diana might know the answer from first career. And what Agnes has to do outside the courtroom will make her an honorary Jersey girl, if it doesn’t kill her first.
Still available: The Hollow Vessel, the new Errol Coutinho novel.
The Hawaii County Police are used to Rotten Roger sleeping rough, but now the veteran tramp has a new tent. The bloodstains in it don’t bother Roger, but they are the last thing Detective Errol Coutinho needs to see.
Coutinho is already looking for Rhonda Cunningham, a young woman from New Jersey who was last seen in Hilo buying a high tech tent like Roger’s. Rhonda planned to live off the grid in the rainforest of the Big Island, but her wealth stands in the way. Too many people want a piece of her to let her disappear. Some wish her well, some want her dead, most want her money, and one wants the thing she will never give.
So whose blood is it in the tent? Coutinho’s investigation will send him up against a hit man from New Jersey, a bunch of wannabe local gangsters, and his own nephew. An old girlfriend wants the best for her son, but she complicates the case even more, and a legendary marijuana trafficker proves both real and deadly. It’s getting crowded in the rainforest, and the shakeout will be murder.
Also still available, The Place Of Refuge, the first novel featuring Detective Errol Coutinho of the Hawaii County Police:
etective Errol Coutinho of the Hawaii County Police has a serial killer of prostitutes to catch and a shortage of leads to pursue. Office Jessie Hokoana of the Honolulu P.D. has an undercover assignment that tests her loyalties and takes her to the brink of death.
When their cases collide in the rainforest of the Big Island, family ties turn deadly, and there may be no pu’uhonua—no place of refuge—for anyone.

The first Diana novel, The Same Mistake Twice is now available from the e-book publisher Untreed Reads. All e-book formats are available.
For ten years the dead man lurked in an unmarked grave with a bullet in his head and no one to miss him. Now he has resurfaced, and the only clue to his identity is Diana's phone number freakishly preserved in his pocket. The police are demanding a list of her clients, and they threaten to stop looking the other way about her business. Diana must stall the cops and solve the case, and she’s running short of time. Her investigation will take her back to her earliest days as a prostitute. She will confront old mistakes and old enemies, and that's the best-case scenario. The worst could be another secret grave—for her.
Welcome to home of the Diana Andrews stories. I hope you'll feel free to see what's here. Just don't tell Diana she has a heart of gold.
It might even be true, but she doesn’t want to hear it. She needs to believe that she is the toughest, smartest woman in a hard, cold business. She’s a prostitute who works behind closed doors, where the dangers can match those on the street. Two hundred dollars an hour may sound like a good payday, but sometimes it doesn’t cover the damage.
Diana lives and works in Sussex County in the northern tip of New Jersey. She moves easily between her hardscrabble hometown and the upper middle class suburbs surrounding it. But wherever her business takes her, trouble rides along, because greed, lust and revenge breach all barriers of class and wealth.
The Diana story started as a mental picture of a man and a woman standing by a car on the shoulder of a deserted highway. I was tackling my first assignment in a writing class at the Union County College in Cranford, New Jersey. Somehow I knew the man wanted to kill the woman. I decided that he was a police officer and she a prostitute, and that I wanted her to be the sympathetic character. In finding a plausible motive for the cop, I decided to make that character a woman also, and a victim of sexual jealousy. The story turned out well, but I realized that it read more like the first chapter of a larger work.
That insight set my course for the next ten years. The results include six Diana novels. Only the first in the series has been published, by the ebook publisher Untreed Reads. Their titles are:
The Same Mistake Twice
Do Overs
Tentacles
The Homicide Sisters
The Senatrix
The Good Place
Almost one hundred short stories from the Diana universe have appeared in print and online publications. One story, called Bismarck Rules, is included in the anthology The Best American Mystery Stories 2010, edited by Lee Child and Otto Penzler. More recently, supporting characters from the novel Tentacles, in which Diana travels to the Big Island of Hawaii with a dangerous client, have been carrying some stories of their own.
Why a prostitute? It took me a while answer the question, even as my word count approached the half million mark. I finally decided to stop thinking so much, because it all goes back to my love of dark crime fiction. I concluded that prostitution, with the deception and self-deception that it requires on both sides of the transaction, leads to mayhem of the most fascinating kind.
So, please visit the rest of this website, read a sample story, follow the links to other short stories, and I hope you’ll agree that Diana Andrews lives at the heart of noir.

I will reduce calls to tech support
When your customer hits a snag, my documentation will provide the right information in most cases, because it is useful—accurate, intelligible, and easy to navigate. I have many years of experience listening to engineers and software developers explain what they're doing and then translating that into language that non-experts can understand.
I insist on learning the product to the deepest level possible so that I can ask intelligent questions and comprehend the answers. In fact, I will learn your product so well that I will fulfill quality-assurance functions—finding bugs that the developers don't notice—because I engage the project from the perspective of the naive user.
For over ten years I have cultivated my skill set in multiple fields and with various companies. I have learned software process improvement, dozens of LAN technologies, wiring and circuit-board diagrams, banking customer service, and internet security.

What’s so important about a name you ask? Everything! Simply put, naming is the single most important piece of marketing you will ever do for your company or product. Your name is the essence of your brand, it defines you. Paraphrasing Mark Twain, “the difference between having the right name and a mediocre name is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.” Naming is my passion and I will take pride in creating a memorable name that will give your brand a boost, set it apart from the competition and put it on the right trajectory.
Along with a memorable name, here are five important reasons why every business should also have its own original tagline:
The right tagline attracts immediate attention to your business
Along with your logo and name, it's part of your brand identity
It's an excellent opportunity to make a powerful statement
It makes it easier to memorize your company's name
It makes you proud of your business image

My specialty is strengthening an organization's reputation, building its brand, and enhancing the relationships it has with its internal and external audiences.
Most recently I was the Manager of Communications for Sarasota County, Florida, where I was responsible for print, online, TV, video and social media communications for the county. Before working for government, I spent several years marketing a global financial-services brand, which resulted in my employer's world ranking rising from 12th to fourth in just one year. I've also been the managing editor for a series of newspapers; and managed corporate communications for a Fortune 500 company.
What I enjoy most is finding the “voice” of an organization and its leaders, then using that voice to speak, write and create marketing collaterals on their behalf, so that measurable results are achieved and goals are reached.
No one should work for as long as I have without amassing many skills and racking up many achievements. I've done both. Here’s what my years of experience bring to the table:

Welcome to my online portfolio! I am a director-level content creator with 13+ years of experience working as a writer and editor in branded content/marketing, digital, and print magazines. Currently, I am Director of Copy at Meredith Corp's branded content studio, the Foundry. Past employers have included Stuart Weitzman, Citi Trends, StyleWatch magazine and InStyle. I have extensive experience brainstorming and bringing to life multi-platform branded content activations, shaping brand voice, acting as a key player in brainstorming 360-degree marketing initiatives, and packaging, writing and editing fashion, beauty, travel, lifestyle, pharma and entertainment feature stories that speak to the modern consumer.
My accomplishments include leading the Copy team at the Foundry, successfully steering them through countless complex revenue-driving projects, twice being named "Foundry's Finest" for my work on major activations for Neutrogena and Target, crafting the Stuart Weitzman brand voice as part of SW's new creative strategy, launching the very first e-commerce website for big-box retailer Citi Trends and overseeing editorial strategy, concepting and writing the monthly Luce Award-Nominated "Play Up Your Shape" section for StyleWatch, spotlighting fashion for all sizes, and spearheading the very first conference of international InStyle editors.
Here you'll find a sampling of digital and print content that I've packaged, written and/or edited. I will be updating this site periodically.
Thank you for your interest!

I'm a seen-it-all, fazed-by-nothing senior writer with experience in healthcare, financial services, tech, consumer products, retail, and travel. Hi, and welcome to my writer's website. If you're here, you've taken an interest in my freelance abilities. Excellent! Welcome aboard.
On this site you'll find writing samples, my resume, and my freelancing background, along with a few awards and ratings I've picked up along the trail. But first, let me give you a glimpse of the woman behind the words.
I'm an archaeologist and businesswoman with a love of all things handmade (food, tools, clothing, children...). I am a passionate believer in sustainable living and green business models. I live with my husband and daughter on a historic Tennessee farm, surrounded by our small, muddy efforts to make a little dent in the dominant agribusiness paradigm. We grow our own vegetables (and some of our own meat); we sell at farmer's markets; and we are co-founders of the Mid-South Permaculture Institute. We live and breathe sustainable business practices, education, historic preservation, and the Do-It-Yourself ethic.
I'm also a lover of this big, overburdened system that is the American lifestyle. I thrive on smart comedy like The Daily Show and Colbert Report. I wrestle with my spending habits and have plenty of personal experience with the credit crisis. I sneak my guilty pleasures of celebrity gossip and fashion writing. And I thrive on writing for the 21st-Century Woman -- that tough, quick, woman-in-a-man's-world who pays the bills, keeps up with the news, gets the kids to bed on time (usually), and still manages to work out, all the while finding quiet ways to nurture the little girl inside who sometimes still wants to wear a tutu and a tiara (or just a pair of old cutoffs and bare feet)...
Read on! You'll find the professionally third-person blurbs under the "About Me" tab. My writing samples are available under the "Writing Samples" tab, and you can download my C.V. under the "Resume" tab.

Gillian Barker: Research Interests
I am an award-winning philosopher of science, with interdisciplinary training in the philosophy, history, and social studies of science from the University of Toronto and the University of California, San Diego. I have research interests in general epistemology of science, in philosophy of biology and environmental philosophy, and in philosophical questions concerning the governance of science, the use of science in governmental policy, and the broader relationship between science and values.
My dissertation was inspired by the strong parallels between theoretical disputes in the study of science and the study of evolution in the last decades of the 20th century, later dubbed the Science Wars and the Darwin Wars. In each case the conflict was between a dominant intellectual tradition that was abstract and universalizing, reductive and atomistic, and a range of newer approaches that emphasized concrete particulars and their diversity and historicity, and the importance of context and of integrated wholes. The dominant approach in each case was ontologically austere, seeking to make sense of its subject matter without recourse to problematic modal notions such as necessity, value, teleological goal or intentional state. The alternative approaches employed richer but more dubious ontologies, and often tried to accommodate or make sense of modal and normative relations as well as teleological and intentional notions such as function, purpose and agency. I saw these disputes as fundamentally misguided. What we want to know about, in understanding the working of science or of evolution, is neither abstract universals nor unique concrete particulars, but the patterns that result from their intersection; neither independent atoms nor all-inclusive purposive wholes, but the structure that results from the ways that parts of the world are integrated and organized, including the structures that we see as good, meaningful or purposive.
Most of my work has been an attempt to understand the reasons for and effects of these schisms, and to explore the kinds of understanding we can achieve when we move beyond them. This leads to certain patterns and emphases in my scholarship: I focus on how we conceptualize the things we try to understand and how apparently incompatible models may be unified or connected, on how a naturalistic understanding can grapple with normative, teleological and intentional concepts, and on causal complexity and its implications for understanding. This broad approach has applications in many different areas of active current research within the sciences–including ecology, immunology, evolution, cognitive science, and the environmental sciences–and for thinking about the sciences and their relationship to a broader context of human concerns and activities. It suggests that several ongoing debates in these fields would be much more productive if they were fundamentally reoriented.
My recent research has focused on complex adaptive systems at different levels of organization, and how science can best grapple with their distinctive features in investigating human immunology, ecological and psychological resilience, evolutionary dynamics, and what evolved human nature can teach us about the prospects for social change. My current research applies similar ideas to the problems of understanding and managing the interconnected global-scale processes upon which human societies depend: what I call "geo-functions." This research connects recent developments in climate science, ecology, agricultural science, and hydrology, and involves extensive collaboration across academic disciplines and with non-academic expert practitioners.

Top Cat! The most effectual Top Cat! Who's intellectual close friends get to call him T.C., providing it's with dignity. Top Cat! The indisputable leader of the gang. He's the boss, he's a pip, he's the championship. He's the most tip top, Top Cat.
Just the good ol' boys, never meanin' no harm. Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born. Straight'nin' the curve, flat'nin' the hills. Someday the mountain might get 'em, but the law never will. Makin' their way, the only way they know how, that's just a little bit more than the law will allow. Just good ol' boys, wouldn't change if they could, fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

About Home by MG Barlow
In this coming of age memoir, the story begins the day seven-year-old Mary loses her mother to a tragic death, throwing the family into chaos. Home braids the history of a house and town with teachings of motherhood, loss, and tradition. Two special houses knit all the drama together. Mary adores the family’s house as, not an inanimate structure, but a guardian with heart and soul. After leaving the place, Mary buries this sentiment, along with the pain of her mother’s departure. In adulthood, Mary discovers and purchases a vintage house, coincidentally built during the same era as her childhood home. Decades after losing her mother, this is where healing begins.
A Story of Home and Self-Restoration
As Mary researches the history of her vintage house and manages its fix-ups, she explores the lives of its prior inhabitants, and her own personal narrative emerges. House renovation and self-restoration unfold in parallel. Like time capsules, the boards and structures of this old home inspire transcendent moments where Mary leaves present consciousness and deeply meditates on her past. Awakening with greater appreciation for family and an ability to untangle her childhood difficulties, Mary unlocks lessons missed in the noise and confusion of early life trauma.
I work as a writer and university teacher, specialising in literature, travel and history. You can find more details under Profile.
The aim of this website is to give an idea of the kind of writing I do. Apart from editorial work and a number of articles, I’ve written eight books. There are links to short extracts from them on the Books page.
I've recently been working with my wife Ayumi on a guide to some of the less frequented temples and gardens in Kyoto. This is now available on Amazon and iBooks. For more details click Kyoto.
Over the past few months I've reissued an earlier book about western images of Japan (The Idea of Japan, Secker & Warburg, 1996) as an ebook, and I'm hoping to do the same with some of my other books. Another project waiting in the wings is a book of some sort about the campanili of Venice. They have an individual character that inspires affection, and I'd love to do a book that enables me to navigate my way around the city using them as landmarks.

Thank you for visiting the portfolio of Joanna Lester-George. I am an experienced Creative Professional with many strings to my bow - born in England and currently living in India. With a keen passion for both the written and spoken word, I have been professionally writing and performing from a young age.
After studying English/Theatre at Goldsmiths University of London, I went on to study law and graduated as a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sussex in 1995. Inspired by the unprecedented travel opportunities of the era, for women especially, I launched straight from university into two years of non-stop globe trotting - and remained an intrepid traveller to this day. Such adventurous travel experiences have provided a diverse and rewarding career path in a variety of truly international destinations. It is said a Creative Professional must learn to wear many hats and I believe this to be true.
In 2006, I left the UK to make India my 'Other Motherland' and moved to sleepy South Goa to become a WFH pioneer. I have worked ever since as a content and features writer with an emphasis on travel ( I established KOKOindia Luxury Travels in 2008) - as well as being a solo parent to my son, also born in Goa in 2008. Having written the content for many travel guides, magazines and websites, I offer a dedicated and professional approach in delivering commissions. Visual evocation is also a forte and I love nothing more than to transport readers to a different time and place using rich narratives and vivid descriptions.
My ongoing role as Director of KOKOindia Luxury Travels involves designing bespoke holidays, retreats and safaris across India with authenticity and style. As a Destination Specialist for 'The Most Extraordinary Country on Earth' since 2007, I have travelled extensively around the sub-continent reviewing hundreds of hotel, dining and destination experiences - some samples of which you will find on this site.
I devised the full content for my company website www.kokoindialuxurytravels.com, as well as for many other hotel and retreat websites. I enjoy creating ongoing blogs, reviews and humorous tales of life in India across various social media platforms and you can visit http://kokoindialuxurytravels.com/stories/ to find my latest stories.
With a broad and professional understanding of the technical and creative writing skills required for each individual assignment, I am happy to receive commissions for features and articles on a wide range of topics. I also provide proofreading and content for websites and marketing campaigns.
Please feel free to contact me at Joanna@kokoindia.com or by phone - I look forward to having a friendly chat with you.

As a freelance writer, much of my work focuses on home decor, gardens, food, art and culture, health, and business. I also specialize in professional communications, crafting and placing press releases, website copywriting, and editing and proofreading publications large and small.

Hi! Thanks for visiting my website. Here you will find samples of the many different kinds of writing I have done over the last 20+ years.
Enjoy!
Welcome to my page!
Let me introduce myself as a writer. My name is Kenny Boudreaux. I have more than five years experience at various newspapers, and magazines near my hometown of Houma, La. I've written in the news, business, lifestyles, entertainment, health, and sports sections. I also have extensive section editing, copy editing, and photojournalism experience. My flexibility has helped me garner several local, regional, and national honors for writing and photography. My notable awards include: Top 10 finalist in the Religion Newswriters Association Chandler Award for Best Student Reporter in 2003-2004, Top 50 contestant of 600-plus entries in Obadiah Press's anthology contest in 2004 on the theme of hope and a Fifth Place finish in the Southeast Journalism Conference's 2005 "Best of the South" feature writing contest. I've also won many Louisiana Press Association awards, including first-place spots for writing and photojournalism.
I earned a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication (print journalism) from Nicholls State University in 2004. I recently returned to my Thibodaux, La.-based alma mater to pursue my second undergraduate degree in English (creative writing) and am just nine hours from completion. In the English curriculum, I've learned how to write quality poems, short stories, analytical essays, memoirs, and research papers. I've considered pursuing a master's degree in magazine writing.
I started my journalism career at The Nicholls Worth, the student publication of Nicholls State University. In just a couple years, I became the weekly newspaper's features editor, managed two writers, and handed out assignments. As a student, I served as a regular contributor in all sections for The Courier in Houma. Just a couple months after graduation from Nicholls, I landed my first full-time gig with the Tri-Parish Times in Houma. There, I served as a staff writer, copy editor and photojournalist. I've also been published in Voila!, Gathering ... In Spirit and In Truth, Mosaic, Grapevine, Gumbo, Foxes On Idol, Houma.com, and Suite 101.com magazines. During a church mission trip to Arizona in 2003, I had a personal opinion piece published in The Apache Scout.
I took a hiatus from journalism in 2007 to work at a family-owned cypress furniture business and spend time focusing on my English degree. Since I've returned to school, I have improved my creative writing, analytical, editing, and research skills. During those three years, I've also launched Idol Waves, an Internet radio station through Live365.com that plays music from former contestants of the popular show American Idol. The station, currently undergoing reconstruction, quickly gained a large national fan base. I recently started another online radio station, Vision Country, that plays inspirational country tunes.

Below this paragraph, I posted some of my favorite works and ones that truly represent me as a versatile writer, editor, and photographer. You can contact me at anytime. I write content that builds trust and drives sales for the education market.
Reaching the K-12 education market isn’t as simple as ABC. It’s not enough to show how our product or service helps students succeed. You have to know the jargon, and you have to make sure each message is written for the right audience.
That’s where I can help.
Hi, I’m Lynda Van Kuren, and I’m a freelance writer with over two decades experience in education. I was a high school teacher for 12 years, then worked as the communications director of a national education association. Also, education was one of my beats as a reporter.
I know education—from the classroom to education policy to the hot buttons affecting educators today. I also can speak to education’s multiple audiences: teachers, administrators, nurses, school board members, parents, and students. Whether you need a blog post, leadership article, newsletter, press release, web content, brochure, or case study, you can trust me to write copy that captures your target audience and inspires them to act.

Hello,
I am willing to share my own experiences and imaginations through words, sometimes you will not get words to describe how you feel, and then you start to scribble things which I love to do. Started writing as a hobby and now it is helping me to tell what most of the people feels.

I can honestly say that writing is my life. I've loved music ever since I was a young child bobbing my head in the backseat of my aunt's car singing a grown up song like I knew what I was talking about (laughs). Maybe it has something to do with the fact that while in the womb my mom would always play music; maybe it was simply meant to be. Here I am, Malecia Bynum 25 years later an established songwriter and storyteller. My very first song "Best Friend" took 3 years to complete and since then, I made it a mission to just be me. My songwriting has evolved over the past few years and I'm very proud of my writing style. I have ability to pull deep within myself and creatively depict how I'm feeling and what I'm going through and I also have the ability to transform into another moment, another life and express what "they" deal with and how "they" feel. My songwriting depicts both nonfiction and fictional accounts but my fiction may be your nonfiction and vice versa. I write because it makes me feel good; it gives me hope that one day I will be able to bless the world with the gift God gave me. I'm ready for a new project so feel free to check out some songs in my Writing Samples and let me know what you think and if you're ready to work, then let's go!

Lyric poet, Mandy Strow, began writing as a young child in the South. When her parents gave her a composition book at age 7, she started filling page after page with rhyming poetry. As she matured, so too did her rhyming and rhythmic style. In her teenage years, Mandy won multiple awards and writing competitions, based on her lyric, often humorous, verse. After graduating college from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Mandy followed in the footsteps of her father and embarked on a 20+-year career in sales. She continued to write privately as she explored the world of parenthood and Corporate America, while simultaneously paving the “write path” for herself, brick by brick. Please enjoy her bricks and reach out with any possible paving projects.

COPYWRITER FOR HEALTH, MEDICINE AND HEALTHCARE
As a marketer in a health field, your responsibilities are heavy – and go far beyond selling.
You educate patients about delicate medical issues. You must win trust for your business not just from consumers but from regulators and even lawmakers.
While other marketers easily followed customers onto social media, your adoption of new marketing channels requires tiptoeing through the minefield of patient-privacy law and other regulations.
And the list goes on.
So…when you need writing help, wouldn’t it be great to find a skilled freelancer who knows exactly where you’re coming from?
Hi, I’m Marcia. A health geek who honed my geekdom as a journalist.
In 30 years of reporting, I’ve covered virtually all aspects of healthcare and medicine. I’ve written thousands of health stories and spent nearly nine years writing and editing a daily and weekly health-policy newsletter.
I’ve reported on hundreds of financial, legal, regulatory, scientific, technological and insurance issues…as well as on many health matters of deep personal concern to patients.
Now I use that background to translate your complex business into compelling copy and content.

SCROLL DOWN TO READ WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT ME:
"Marcia’s a cut above the rest because of how professional she is in doing that deep background research that makes the difference between copy that works and copy that doesn't. The research she did is a valuable asset we’ll have in the company for years to come.
"And once we saw her video sales letter script, we were blown away. It incorporated great stories…had great flow. If you’re looking for someone to produce high-value work for you, Marcia’s a great person to have a conversation with."
--Dr. Anthony Balduzzi, founder, Fit Father Project; Fit Mother Project
"I faxed your foreword to my editors. My "fairy god-editor" called and said, "Holy Sh--, this is terrific. It says it all!" And she never uses language like that. Thank you for taking the time, thought, and effort -- and thorough understanding of the message -- to create this. You're awesome."
--Pam Gilberd, author, The Eleven Commandments of Highly Successful Women
"In my 20 years of covering health policy on a daily basis in Washington, I've met no one who matches Marcia's combination of clear writing and passion for deeply researching a topic."
--John Reichard, founder, CQ Healthbeat; Executive Editor, Medicine & Health
"Marcia, everyone is simply on Cloud 9 about your memory piece! Would it be okay for us to send a copy to the members of the Congressional Bipartisan Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease? We think this is just the sort of comprehensive information they all should have."
--Toni Williams, senior associate director of public relations, Alzheimer’s Association; Vice President, public health, Burness
"Sloppy, ideologically biased reporting on the long-term care issue is endemic in the media. A welcome exception follows: CONGRESSIONAL QUARTERLY NAILS THE LTC ISSUE. We're very pleased to point you today to an excellent, 23-page report titled "Caring for the Elderly." It was written by Marcia Clemmitt. By all means, get a copy of this excellent article."
--Stephen A. Moses, President, Center for Long-Term Care Reform, Seattle, Washington
"Ever wondered what explains the often misguided health policies by our government? Well, it is beyond our humble brains to capture what may be going on but we now see that lack of access to quality information is certainly not the main problem.
"We are really impressed by the 24-page special issue Preventing Memory Loss by Marcia Clemmitt. The publication is worth the price for anyone active professionally in the healthcare sector, or interested in learning about latest research and policy trends, from academics to students."
--Alvaro Fernandez, CEO and founder, SharpBrains.com
"Wow – very comprehensive and well written. Congratulations on an excellent story."
--Dr. Bill Schaffner, Professor, preventive medicine, public policy, infectious diseases, Vanderbilt University Medical Center
"I’ve at last had a chance to read your report. It is terrific! Obama’s State of the Union mentioned how we have to invest in science and so we need reports like this on various scientific issues to educate the legislators and their staff."
--Anindya Dutta, Professor and Chair, biochemistry, molecular genetics, University of Virginia School of Medicine
"I had no idea that the scope of your article was so ambitious until I read it. You've covered all the major bases (this almost never happens in one piece, especially one this size), This is a very useful addition to the literature about this often neglected field.
"You've consulted with many of the best people in the field, and you've laid out the issues succinctly and, I think, in a very balanced way. Congratulations."
--Len Fishman, Director, Gerontology Institute, University of Massachusetts Boston
"I just wanted to let you know that I think this is the finest piece of work by a journalist on this topic that I have ever seen. I don't think this was an easy topic to gain a rounded view of - but you have done it. Well done."
--Clive Wynne, Professor, psychology, Arizona State University
"Thanks for this excellent article. You cover many aspects of the ART reality with insight and objectivity."
--Ronald M. Green, Professor, family and community medicine, Dartmouth Medical School
"My longtime colleague Marcia Clemmitt has asked me to pen a “couple of sentences saying that I’m an okay writer who doesn’t screw up deadlines or whatever.” More than glad to. Marcia is so good, so dependable, that, as an editor, I just about would weep with gratitude every time she came up in the assignment rotation. She’s a joy to work with, and yes, she NEVER misses a deadline. Funny too.
"Marcia wrote long-form, in-depth reports on a wide range of subjects for me at CQ Researcher, but mainly science, social policy, economics and technology. These 13,000-word reports are fact-checked and footnoted and have to be readable for college students but comprehensive and substantive enough to inform academics and other experts in specific fields.
"Marcia has a great talent for clear, concise, accurate writing and a polymath’s ability to get her arms around any subject, giving an editor confidence that she has mastered the field and doesn’t miss anything. The term consummate professional, overused as it often is, nonetheless is the only way to describe Marcia."
--Thomas J. Colin, former Editor and now Consulting Editor, CQ Researcher
"Marcia Clemmitt is among the most creative, versatile, discerning and dependable journalists with whom I’ve worked. Marcia works hard, digs deeply and consistently produces work of distinction and originality.
"She writes masterfully on a wide range of subjects, from science, health care and technology to religion, social policy, business and education, and the result is always first rate -- insightful, thorough, accessible, and accurate."
--Tom Billitteri, Managing Editor, CQ Researcher
"I had always hoped that there was a Congressional Quarterly Researcher on hackers and hacking. Well now there is one and I have to say, they have done a fantastic job.
"The author, Marcia Clemmitt, covered open source, transgressive hacking, Anonymous, and cybersecurity among many other issues. Out of all the recent publicly oriented publications on hackers and hacking, this is the one that is the most in-depth but accessible."
--Gabriella Coleman, McGill University Wolfe Chair in Scientific and Technological Literacy; author, Coding Freedom: The Ethics and Aesthetics of Hacking

Marcia Horn Noyes began her career as a television reporter with KBMT-TV in Beaumont, Texas. At the age of 19, she got her “lucky break” after applying for a position in the production department. Being too young and inexperienced, she was promptly turned away, but hours later, a production crew member tragically fell from a ladder and broke his back. With her job application sitting atop the production manager’s desk, Marcia got the first call to run studio cameras that night. Three months later, the news department moved her into a reporter position and she began reporting news in the Golden Triangle area.
After her stint as the station's youngest television reporter, she moved on to Corpus Christi, Texas where at the age of 24, became the youngest branch manager for a broadcast television equipment company. After ten years in management and account management roles, she returned to writing, first freelancing for local newspapers and magazines, then taking on more prominent roles as Marketing and PR Director for regional publications and eventually a healthcare technology start-up in Denver, Colorado.
Marcia uses her outside passion for long-distance running and varied communications experience to enhance her writing. She now enjoys producing stories and online content that educates, enlightens and inspires an audience; in particular, being drawn to topics related to business, fitness, health, frugality and lifestyle, as well as producing celebrity profiles.
She has written for local, regional and national publications, including Denver Post, Journal of Urgent Care Medicine, Kids' Pages Family Magazine, Southern Living, Enlightened Woman and Chicken Soup for the Body & Soul. Her television work has also appeared on CNN and ABC Morning News.
Marcia is a native Texan and received her B.S. in Mass Communications from Lamar University. She now writes from her homes in Denver, CO and New Braunfels, TX.

Over the years, I've thought a lot about what it is that I actually do. More than anything else, I think I'm in the business of trust - the trust you need from clients in order for them to choose to do business with you. We all know how complicated health care is. Its unique function, language, cost structure, set of legislated provisions, regulations, and policies – and range of perspectives on dealing with them.
Consulting as a senior-level writer and strategist for a diverse group of leading health care companies, I hear the disparate conversations taking place across the industry. Recognizing where everyone is coming from helps me to craft precise messages for targeted audiences.
Sure, I can save you time, too. Knowing just what to say and how to frame it helps get to the point, fast. It's also little things like avoiding misplaced modifiers and knowing where all of those little marks - "[,/(%?])"' - go. And of course it's the big things, like getting the flow of the copy right. It's avoiding what could stop a document dead at regulatory or a clinician's review and send it screaming back with strikes and revisions.
But more than anything else, it's about trust These days, we're pouring so much effort into SEO outreach and strategies that implore clients to check us out - that increase search engine rankings. That generate leads. And yes, this is key. However, in the rush to get it all out, we have to remember two things: First, we need someone on the other side with decision-making capacity or who can at least recommend us to decision makers. (Are we hitting our targets or talking to the wind?) Second, we need every engagement with decision makers to be positive. To be awesome. This is why I believe each message we send and the way we deliver it must convey all of our talent and competence - right from the start. It's about conveying trust. Yes, I'm a writer, but what I really offer is trust - trust in you.

Ni hao and welcome to my portfolio. Thank you kindly for visiting. Seriously. I have a few writing samples here. Some are academic, while others are for the love of writing and work related. I have a B.A. in English/Creative Writing and an M.A. in English. When my younger brother asked me what I was going to do with my M.A. degree, I told him I was going to hang it on a wall, and I did! Goals are important, folks! Especially in soccer! I have embraced reading and writing since grade school and I consider myself an independent thinker. Thanks again for visiting and if you have questions, please just email me...or ask Siri.

If I could only sing as well as I write ...
My writing "voice" covers at least three octaves, from the low, steady notes (serious news writing, reports and training manuals) to middle-C level (brochures, corporate communications and letters) to the upper ranges (e-blasts, e-newsletters, ads, promos, direct mail, radio spots). I successfully change my pitch depending on my audience.
I'm a writer and editor with additional experience as a broadcast producer, newscaster and reporter. I've studied several foreign languages, traveled internationally many times and experienced life to the fullest. As a result, my writing is enhanced by all that I've seen, done and read.
I will admit it: I am a travel junkie with no interest in any type of a 12-step program to tame my addiction. I live and breathe international travel. Throughout my many journeys, I've gathered recipes, spices and strange cooking utensils (such as a weird little lime squeezer that I talked the owner of an Indian restaurant in Manchester, England, into selling me). Food has to be my second passion, and I love to infuse my writing with as much spice and variety as I do in my recipes.
Describing nuts and bolts may not be as exciting as describing a desert trek through the Sahara on the back of a camel, but it's certainly something I can do. I'm quick, versatile and can write about anything with enthusiasm and in any style that's required.

Welcome to my Homepage! Having retired (Spring 2012) from a 24-year volunteer-role as CoSec/CFO/trustee of Learning Through Action, an education charity (after ‘winding it up’ due to ‘the cuts’ in UK education funding) I found I had time to attempt a sort-out of my personal ‘archives’ (otherwise known as ‘all that clutter’). Two old storage boxes of yellowing paper were a particularly dusty challenge. I was fairly certain these boxes contained my past ‘writings’, but would have found it difficult to be more specific. After some enjoyable days spent deciphering my handwriting I began to think that there might be quite a few short stories, anecdotes, articles and abandoned novels that, if ‘word-processed’ and ‘copy-edited’ with a more contemporary eye, might be appreciated by a wider readership. Launching this personal website is hopefully a first step to setting up a means of disseminating my ‘refurbished’ work and new material. As they say, ‘Please watch this space!’

Hi, my name is Sarah True. I'm a freelance writer interested in healthcare policy and access issues impacting underserved populations. I work with journalistically-minded publications to produce feature stories and shorter pieces focusing on what happens at the intersection of healthcare delivery and health policy and how this affects real people.
I strive to illuminate health and socioeconomic disparities experienced by people of color and low income and other marginalized groups, and how these are either precipitated or alleviated by health policy decisions.
I have a medical social work and health policy research background. I was employed as a medical social worker in community healthcare and in a large healthcare system, and later worked as a health policy researcher at a highly regarded DC think tank. This experience has given me an "insider" perspective, and the accompanying knowledge base, that enables me to talk to the right people, ask the right questions, and craft a compelling, thoughtfully researched and reported story.
I also hold Master's degrees in Social Work and Public Health, which means that I'm well-versed in structural inequalities impacting underprivileged populations, and can readily translate health and social science research jargon into concise, informative prose accessible to lay and professional audiences.
SERVICES:
Reported journalism
Communications work for NGOs or think tanks

I am a Toronto-based freelance writer, journalist and editor. I have over 15 years experience and hold a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Ryerson University.
My work has appeared in Elevate Magazine, Anokhi Magazine, Good News Toronto, Bluffs Monitor, Beach Metro News, and The Hellenic Times and on YP.ca.
Here are a few of my writing samples:
Any story can be compelling when written in the right voice. My 20-plus years experience in writing and editing have helped me find and develop the right voice – be it my own or yours – for web copy to white papers, manuscripts to manuals. I approach editing other’s work the same way I approach crafting my own: with an eye towards clear, dynamic prose that engages the reader while preserving the author’s intention.
Though I have written copy for financial institutions and covered raccoon dinners, the bulk of my experience is in educational and training materials, the arts, elder care and community-centered organizations. I ghost wrote a book and specialize in editing papers and publications by non-writer experts, including non-native English speakers. I have collected strengths from a career spanning journalism (BA), promotions and creative writing (MFA), all of which, I have found, can feed the others.
Curiosity and love of language drive my attention to detail and ever-primed creativity. My enthusiasm and good humor are supported by diligence and a strict adherence to deadlines.
Successful brands exhibit one common strength: The ability to make an authentic connection. Great copy tells a story, inspires an emotion, elicits a knowing laugh, feels like a friend.
In my 15+ year career, I've been the voice of some of the world's most recognized brands, as well as some extraordinary local businesses. I've written for a variety of mediums – from digital content and print ads to social media posts, feature-length articles and just about everything in between.

My name is Talia Rinaldo, I am a bubbly and enthusiastic twenty three year old. Growing up in the small country town of Myrtleford in north east Victoria, I moved to Geelong in 2012 to undertake university studies.
I have recently graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in journalism) & Bachelor of Management (majoring in human resource and marketing).
I aim to get a variety of hand-on experience that will be significant in achieving my dreams, benefiting my studies and help me become more confident in this type of industry.
As part of my journalism degree, I undertook a three week internship at the Warrnambool Standard in 2013. Content isn't just a buzzword. It's the heart of communication. To get a message across to any audience, you have to go beyond basic facts to set the appropriate tone and speak the right language. Sometimes that's straight AP Style journalism. Sometimes it's establishing a conversation. Sometimes it's painting a picture with words. Other times, it's presenting technical data through words.
I'm a seasoned editorial professional, ready to help craft your message whether that's drafting a bylined feature or ghostwriting a blog. Let's work together to tell your story.

I am a Texas bookworm who moved to Washington D.C./Northern Virginia to work on large computer systems. I soon learned that presenting technical and business information that was readable and compelling was not for sissies. suited to the audience. I created hundreds of professional business proposals and resumes, basing my approach on solid marketing techniques, and began to write articles and technology blogs.
I write truly professional resumes in which my client’s career history is totally revamped. Resume clients tend to bury the lede (putting major awards at the bottom of their resume, for example) and to write minimalistic statements that only hint at what they actually did. I elicit details and accomplishments that truly represent client skills and make sure to add creative writing to make them stand out.
Every resume is a transformation because it addresses two timeframes: the job history, which needs to be made readable and interesting, and only include highlights to attract attention, and the future, where the most crucial skills and abilities of both timeframes are described at a higher level that shows how the candidate’s history fits the new career path.
I pursued my interest in reading and reviewing biographies and true stories of achievement, especially as related to writing, science, and exploration. From the first book I read on the famous and mysterious Tutankhamen, I have tried to understand new universes, ancient civilizations and those who have the courage to explore new ideas and places. I read books about polar exploration, accounts from World Wars I and II, and biographies of writers and scientists in search of heroic deeds and people. I look for real characters who inhabit exotic and dangerous environs, and who face far more trouble than I ever have.

I am a writer. I am a writer. I am a writer.
I had to learn to say those four little words without adding the proverbial "but". And finally ... it stuck.
I write because I must, because somehow it helps me to work through the "conundrums" that are my life. And I write to tell the stories for those who cannot.
MEADOWLARK, my first published work of literary fiction, was released by NeWest Press September 2015. Please see "Writing Samples" and "NOVELS" for an excerpt.

As a skilled and seasoned marketer, business writer, graphic designer and manager, I seek to secure a position which will utilize all my skills to help companies or agencies improve their sales, services, outreach or donations. I am particularly adept at conception and writing of consumer, business-to-business, non-profit marketing materials.
My "marketing communication" skills developed (evolved?) as did my computer design skills–both on Mac and PC. Those of us who've been doing this for years might remember "Ventura Publisher." I cut my PC design skills on that venerable but flawed PC platform. But my skills truly took flight when I became one of the "charter" Mac users in 1984...using the 1.1 version of PageMaker by Aldus. Even though the first Mac had only 16 fonts and NO HARD DRIVE, I still managed to design, write, edit and publish a national labor relations newsletter.
My innate writing skills developed at the same time and along-side my computer design skills...soon merging into one single, integrated process. Now I find it not only "natural" but "automatic"...even "necessary" to write and design complex documents each at the same time. Call it "WritingDesign" if you will.
Excellent writing, as it must, encompasses not only creativity but precision. I am an extremely fast and correct typist, grammarian, editor and proof-reader.
