As the house writer at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams since 2010 my duties have included cultivating and maintaining the voice of the company while copy editing two cookbooks (including the New York Times bestseller/James Beard Award-winning Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home) and drafting digital and print advertising, e-commerce, and website copy. Prior to Jeni's, I reported for 12 years for The Columbus Dispatch (circulation: 245,000 daily; 390,000 Sunday), covering pop music. In my spare time, I assist with Columbus Fleas (which benefit the Mid-Ohio Foodbank), hunt for secondhand records, and explore Columbus and beyond with my wife, photographer, graphic designer, librarian, and bookmaker Michelle Maguire. This fall, we will release Salami Dreamin', a from-scratch book in the works with help from Ohio State's Logan Elm Press.

Hello, there! My name is Adrianna Zampieri, and I have a passion for words. I pursued my love for writing in college, receiving a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English with a creative writing emphasis at Texas A&M University.
In January of 2015, I began my writing career as an intern at Maroon Weekly, a local entertainment publication in Bryan/College Station, where I conducted interviews, researched events, and spearheaded the creation of a D.I.Y. section. Since my internship, I have continued to write for Maroon Weekly as a freelance writer, focusing mainly on weekly Netflix reviews and D.I.Y. projects.
During my time at Texas A&M and Maroon Weekly, I have refined my writing style as well as improved my editing and proofreading skills. I have collaborated with peers (the more, the merrier), juggled multiple projects (I’m always up for a challenge), and consistently met deadlines (thank goodness for great organizational skills). I am looking forward to the next chapter of my career.
Under the “Writing Samples” link of my online portfolio, you will find a collection of some of my published articles. If you'd like to get to know me a little better, click on the "About Me" link for a quick read.
THIS JUST IN.
The first Diana novel, The Same Mistake Twice is now available from the e-book publisher Untreed Reads. All e-book formats are available.
Coming soon, you can get all of my ebooks, as well as all other Untreed Reads titles, at DriveThruFiction. Check it out now:
Welcome to home of the Diana Andrews stories. I hope you'll feel free to see what's here. Just don't tell Diana she has a heart of gold.
It might even be true, but she doesn’t want to hear it. She needs to believe that she is the toughest, smartest woman in a hard, cold business. She’s a prostitute who works behind closed doors, where the dangers can match those on the street. Two hundred dollars an hour may sound like a good payday, but sometimes it doesn’t cover the damage.
Diana lives and works in Sussex County in the northern tip of New Jersey. She moves easily between her hardscrabble hometown and the upper middle class suburbs surrounding it. But wherever her business takes her, trouble rides along, because greed, lust and revenge breach all barriers of class and wealth.
The Diana story started as a mental picture of a man and a woman standing by a car on the shoulder of a deserted highway. I was tackling my first assignment in a writing class at the Union County College in Cranford, New Jersey. Somehow I knew the man wanted to kill the woman. I decided that he was a police officer and she a prostitute, and that I wanted her to be the sympathetic character. In finding a plausible motive for the cop, I decided to make that character a woman also, and a victim of sexual jealousy. The story turned out well, but I realized that it read more like the first chapter of a larger work.
That insight set my course for the next ten years. The results include six Diana novels. All are currently unpublished, but the first in the series is due out soon from the ebook publisher Untreed Reads. Their titles are:
The Same Mistake Twice
The Homicide Sisters
The Good Place
I foresee at least two more books in the series.
Seventy short stories from the Diana universe have appeared in print and online publications. One story, called Bismarck Rules, is included in the anthology The Best American Mystery Stories 2010, edited by Lee Child and Otto Penzler. More recently, supporting characters from the novel Tentacles, in which Diana travels to the Big Island of Hawaii with a dangerous client, have been carrying some stories of their own.
Why a prostitute? It took me a while answer the question, even as my word count approached the half million mark. I finally decided to stop thinking so much, because it all goes back to my love of dark crime fiction. I concluded that prostitution, with the deception and self-deception that it requires on both sides of the transaction, leads to mayhem of the most fascinating kind.
So, please visit the rest of this website, read a sample story, follow the links to other short stories, and I hope you’ll agree that Diana Andrews lives at the heart of noir.

Welcome to sincerity&passion!
I created this website to showcase the writing of my teenage ESL students from China, Taiwan and Korea, who have lived in Canada for a few months to several years. Often, we underestimate what English Language Learners (ELLs) are capable of writing: giving them only short assignments, having them write only in point form, assigning only practical writing related to everyday needs, and delaying content-based or creative writing until students reach higher levels of oral proficiency. What we often overlook is that ELLs who are proficient writers in their native language can do so much more when writing in English, given the necessary support.
Here you can read a variety of quality works that were only edited for mechanical errors when they reached their final form. During the writing process, students participated in idea-generating discussions and peer/teacher critiques, and derived inspiration from published literature and classmates' work.
I'm a passionate, professional writer with a penchant for challenges. I'm a creative ideator who enjoys pushing the envelope. And I have the experience, the skills and the heart to deliver persuasive, polished marketing copy that moves people to take action and gets results.

I'm awfully good at this.
I have no problem scrambling up steep learning curves, imposing order on chaos, and explaining how things work—in excruciating detail, if need be.
I easily organize data into simple-to-use formats: databases, charts, graphs, tables, procedures, manuals, help files.
I am especially adept at converting abstract concepts and processes into pictorial representations, to design layouts and color schemes and develop or follow style guides.
Since 1997, I have cultivated my skill set in multiple fields and with various companies. So far, I have learned software process improvement, dozens of LAN technologies, accounting in two languages, wiring and circuit-board diagrams, banking customer service, and internet security.
I would like to expand my knowledge into healthcare, manufacturing, chemistry, or any other field I have not tried or continue building my knowledge base in IT.

If I asked you to tell me your story, what would you say?
Would you tell me about your products, employees, annual sales, that you’re global, or maybe you'd recite a memorized mission statement?
I’m guessing you wouldn’t tell me how your company is changing people’s lives. So, that’s what I do.
I find the stories that resonate with your customers, prospects, employees, partners, industry and others. What’s the story? How does it inform? What emotion does it evoke? How can we use it to connect with others? How can your stories grow your business?
Today, the word for it is “content.” Whether the content is spread through paid (traditional), earned (public relations), or owned (social/digital channels) media, your stories define you.
For 25 years, I’ve been helping my clients tell their stories through:
•Branding (research, essence, messaging)
•Traditional ad campaigns and product rollouts (newspaper, magazine, radio, TV, online, social, websites)
•Public and media relations (events, trade show promotion, new releases, announcements)
•Content marketing that helps in the buying decision (webinars, blogs, newsletters, podcasts)
•Corporate communications (newsletters, HR, intranet development, survey/research, distribution chain communications, executive communications)
Connect with me and tell me your story. Let’s find your stories yet to be told and use them to connect the people to move your business forward.
Specialties: Aviation and insurance industries, content marketing, corporate communications, traditional advertising and public relations, print and digital journalism, simplifying the complex, and finding the story.
"Tell me a story" is how many evenings end in my household, words softly spoken by a six-year-old eager to fall asleep to the sounds of my voice and a compelling tale of wonder and enchantment...
Hello, my name is Dane Kerne, and I am a technical writer who strives to strike a balance in his writing between the straightforward and the entertaining. I have 16 years of solid, proven professional writing experience that helps me know just how (and when) to brighten content with a metaphor or even some light humor. Humor is relatable, and (at the end of the day), isn't that what we, as technical communicators, want our work to be on some level?
I am in the prime of my professional career: deeply experienced, continuing to learn by completing the Professional Writing program at the University of Houston-Downtown...all while utilizing a strong personal foundation (family, friends, peers) to grow and achieve.
So, let's meet and discuss my future role in your story, one that results in taking your documentation to new heights.
Looking forward to our first conversation (and more),
Dane A. Kerne
My name is Daryl Thompson (a.k.a., "Daryl The Writer"). I am a Professional Namer. I specialize in creating great product and business names. My key objective is to give your company, product and/or innovation name identity.
What’s so important about a name you ask? Everything! Simply put, naming is the single most important piece of marketing you will ever do for your company or product. Your name is the essence of your brand, it defines you. Paraphrasing Mark Twain, “the difference between having the right name and a meteoric name is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.” Naming is my passion and I will take pride in creating a memorable name that will give your brand a boost, set it apart from the competition and put it on the right trajectory.
Along with a memorable name, here are five important reasons why every business should also have its own original tagline:
The right tagline attracts immediate attention to your business
Along with your logo and name, it's part of your brand identity
It's an excellent opportunity to make a powerful statement
It makes it easier to memorize your company's name
It makes you proud of your business image

David Sason is a screenwriter born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. There, his multi-ethnic family first inspired his love of nuanced storytelling of often-ignored cultures. In his film work, which has included shorts and features, David’s most recent project is SUGARCOATED, a feature comedy-drama produced by ZAG Media Productions. His screenplay strikes a delicate yet poignant balance between the realities of familial obligation and the intoxicating rush of celebrity.
After earning an English degree from UCLA, David became an award-winning cultural columnist, with a focus on entertainment. Through his music journalism, he has interviewed artists as diverse as Buddy Guy and the Beastie Boys, always striving to uncover the core of creativity. In the corporate world, he has worked as a digital content marketing strategist for technology companies.

You may be wondering who is Washington & Jett.
If not, its okay...
I am Washington & Jett.
I created Washington & Jett during my Masters program- for me the name represents two strong male names in which I loved enough to allow them to represent and brand myself as such.
Although, I am not a male- I am strong and to the rest of the world lies a strong company in front of you.
I am not a two time award winning writer but I am a creative being, with art pouring out of my mouth from time to time.
" write for the those who haven't been heard and can't turn their thoughts into words. I write for those who don't know right from wrong."
I can visualize what someone tells me they wish to write. I can create a draft- leave it be and come back to master the piece. I can experience a moment and put it on paper. I can write business, communication, promotional and feature pieces. I can write anything you or your company may desire- from technical to entertainment. Washington & Jett is the freelance source when you need style and flair to innovate the ways of your business.
As the writer I am transparent as the world wants to see. I am poetic and the flair which I offer is the same flair you can hear out of my mouth.

Gillian Barker: Research Interests
I am a philosopher of science, with interdisciplinary training in the philosophy, history, and social studies of science from the University of Toronto and the University of California, San Diego. I have research interests in general epistemology of science, in philosophy of biology and environmental philosophy, and in philosophical questions concerning the governance of science, the use of science in governmental policy, and the broader relationship between science and values.
My dissertation was inspired by the strong parallels between theoretical disputes in the study of science and the study of evolution in the last decades of the 20th century, later dubbed the Science Wars and the Darwin Wars. In each case the conflict was between a dominant intellectual tradition that was abstract and universalizing, reductive and atomistic, and a range of newer approaches that emphasized concrete particulars and their diversity and historicity, and the importance of context and of integrated wholes. The dominant approach in each case was ontologically austere, seeking to make sense of its subject matter without recourse to problematic modal notions such as necessity, value, teleological goal or intentional state. The alternative approaches employed richer but more dubious ontologies, and often tried to accommodate or make sense of modal and normative relations as well as teleological and intentional notions such as function, purpose and agency. I saw these disputes as fundamentally misguided. What we want to know about, in understanding the working of science or of evolution, is neither abstract universals nor unique concrete particulars, but the patterns that result from their intersection; neither independent atoms nor all-inclusive purposive wholes, but the structure that results from the ways that parts of the world are integrated and organized, including the structures that we see as good, meaningful or purposive.
Most of my work has been an attempt to understand the reasons for and effects of these schisms, and to explore the kinds of understanding we can achieve when we move beyond them. This leads to certain patterns and emphases in my scholarship: I focus on how we conceptualize the things we try to understand and how apparently incompatible models may be unified or connected, on how a naturalistic understanding can grapple with normative, teleological and intentional concepts, and on causal complexity and its implications for understanding. This broad approach has applications in many different areas of active current research within the sciences—including ecology, immunology, evolution, cognitive science, and the environmental sciences—and for thinking about the sciences and their relationship to a broader context of human concerns and activities. It suggests that several ongoing debates in these fields would be much more productive if they were fundamentally reoriented.
My recent research has focused on complex adaptive systems at different levels of organization, and how science can best grapple with their distinctive features in investigating human immunology, ecological and psychological resilience, evolutionary dynamics, and what evolved human nature can teach us about the prospects for social change. My current research applies similar ideas to the problems of understanding and managing the interconnected global-scale processes upon which human societies depend: what I call "geo-functions." This research connects recent developments in climate science, ecology, agricultural science, and hydrology, and involves extensive collaboration across academic disciplines and with non-academic expert practitioners.
My name is Gina Gresko and I am currently working with The Walt Disney Company as a communications intern with Disney's Animals, Science and Environment program. I recently graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a double major in English and journalism and a minor in film studies. I am pursuing writing jobs and my dream is to write for entertainment blogs. Currently I have several writing projects going on.
I am the happy owner of two blogs, Rough Cut and Frames per Second. One focuses on film criticism and the other focuses on the film scene in my local town. I have written on several different academic platforms and explored a variety of topics throughout my college years including newspaper, magazines, social media, blogs, etc.
I would love to be a professional film critic one day and appear on television talk shows. I love the world of entertainment and expressing my ideas through writing and the magic of the English language.

The aim of the website is to give an idea of the kind of writing I do. Apart from editorial work and a number of articles, I’ve written eight books. There are links to short extracts from them on the Books page.
I’m at the moment working on a guide to some of the less frequented temples and gardens in Kyoto. Most western tourists get no further than the same small group of famous sites - lovely but crowded to bursting point. Visiting them can easily turn into a conveyor-belt experience that gives only a distorted glimpse of what the city has to offer. Within a few yards of the major tourist attractions there are unregarded temple gates that open on to courtyards and gardens of mesmerising beauty. I'd like to highlight some of the places that tend to stay just below the tourist radar.

Hi, I'm Jackie Hutcherson Parker, a St. Louis, Mo.-based communications professional. I'm a 24-year veteran of the newspaper business, most recently as Health Editor at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. I should also mention that my public relations and social media skills got a chance to shine at Lift For Life Academy, the first charter school in St. Louis.
I've written newspaper and magazine articles, edited stories and sections, as well as managed a team of reporters. I enjoy working with writers and helping them brainstorm ideas through to the finished product of a well-crafted story. The journalism skills I've acquired along the way – keeping writers on track, meeting deadlines, working as part of a team or going solo and loving what I do – are vital, especially when your goal is to get your message to a mass audience or a specific one.
Translater - I would enjoy nothing more than working to get your message out there.

Good [morning/afternoon/evening] everyone, and welcome to my online portfolio.
I can't think of much to say on the home page that isn't covered by the "Writing Samples" and "Resume" pages (in retrospect, I probably should have written the Home Page blurb first), so I'll make this quick:
I created this online portfolio to showcase a few of my more recent personal projects, and to provide an overview of the professional writing I've done. I'm hoping to find a more writing-intensive position in the near future, so please don't hesitate to contact me if you have a position open.
I love writing, and would be grateful for any opportunity to do so more often.
Thanks for viewing,

He collaborated with Comedy Suitcase to write and star in their spring smash Michael Bay's Super Mario Armageddon.
This site will give you a glimpse into some of the work he has developed.
I'm a writer with a penchant for human interest stories, equality among genders and races and pushing the status quo. I have a BS degree in speech communications, a specialization in public relations and a minor in journalism. I went on to graduate from law school. I haven't kept many of my textbooks, but a few I can't part with are The Associated Press Stylebook and Libel Manual, Strunk and White's Elements of Style, and Webster's New World Dictionary (required for the course "Greek and Latin in English Usage.") A personal favorite I've carted around for years is a world atlas. I didn't buy it for a class; I like to look up the places I learn about in movies and the news. I'm fascinated by the differences between cultures across the planet and how those differences came into being.
Every company has a story to tell that is newsworthy.
I am a communications professional and former journalist who showcases multi-million dollar companies and non-profits creatively and tactically to local, regional or national media. My proven media relations capabilities effectively enhance a company's or client's strategic marketing or PR initiatives including researching and writing press releases, media consulting, crafting talking points, interview preparation, on-camera training and crisis communications-including highly sensitive issues or events.

I can entirely remember, even as an eight year-old budding author in my third grade classroom, always loving to write. With Mr. Davenport at the helm, I wrote many short stories in his classroom. Flashbacks, without a doubt, continually involving haunted houses, werewolves, ghosts, vampires, witches, nearby cemeteries, and most certainly spooky surroundings, are most prominent in my mind. I supplied detailed illustrations for each masterpiece as well. I can laugh and appreciate this at the same time! The memories are incredibly fond! If I could, I would thank 'Mr D' for giving me the opportunity, in school, for exploring creative writing at such a young age.
Hello, and thank you for being here! My name is Julie Zurgable, formerly Julie Glass. However you came to be here, I appreciate you in doing so. Welcome to my online writing portfolio! Each one has served a purpose at one point in my life; in my personal life, my career, or in my academic life. Writing is a way for me to process feelings about my experiences, to inform others, or just to feed a creative desire within me. Journals are plentiful at my house! Writing has always been a passion in my life, for as long as I can remember. My writing samples reveal a great deal about me. Life is too short not to love your surroundings. Style, like beauty, comes from within. You cannot buy style, you express it and you create it. It is the essence of our being: subjective, objective, and completely freeing. Style defines how you feel about every facet of your life. Style is inspired by all the things around us- family, friends, beauty, and nature. Style is not only physical but it encompasses all of our characteristics- it’s our attitude and how we feel about our lives. Style is your expression of yourself. Be stylish. Be creative. Be confident. Be mindful. Feel Good. Love your pig!

Welcome! My name is Kathryn Yelinek, and I'm a writer and librarian. My first nonfiction book was published in 2001. Since then I've published both fiction and nonfiction.
Below is a list of some of my favorite publications. You'll find more in the Bibliography section.
As a veterinarian and medical writer, my skill set allows me to communicate technical medical information to health professionals including veterinarians, technicians, physicians, nurses, sales reps and others. As an outgoing, 'people' person, I also enjoy translating medical information into bite-sized pieces that non-medical people can easily understand. In fact, talking to pet owners about symptoms, diagnostic tests and treatment plans was one of my greatest joys during my time in private practice.
I received an undergraduate degree in English and Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. After working in an orthopedic research laboratory at the University of Wisconsin–Madison for two years, I entered the School of Veterinary Medicine there. In 1999, I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree and license and went on to complete an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the North Carolina State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon completion of that program, I worked as a full time associate in small animal private practice for 3 years and then began work as a relief veterinarian.
My passion for medical writing began in the exam room with clients while I explained the health problems facing their pet, the indicated tests and the treatment plans. Regardless of the severity of the pet's problem, every owner had the same questions centered around quality of care, cost of tests and treatments and the prognosis. People are emotional, often confused or scared and usually very sad when their pet is diagnosed with any type of illness and they need someone compassionate, knowledgeable and approachable to explain the issues and present options in a way they can understand. I handle these situations well because after hundreds of conversations about pet health with many different types of people, I began to see how to best connect with people, earn their trust and guide them through such difficult moments. It's a skill all veterinarians need but not all can express or have the time to learn how to do.
The key is to relate technical medical information in a way the client can easily understand. That varies from person-to-person. Writing is an excellent means for me to relate medical information to people who don't have a medical background in a way that puts them more at ease and helps them to feel they have some power and control over certain aspects of their pet's outcome.
Medical writing also helps me share information between physicians, veterinarians and the public. Now, more than ever, with events such as the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, the canine influenza outbreak in Chicago, the avian influenza outbreak among poultry flocks in the U.S. and Canada, food born illnesses and the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, an open dialogue between public health and animal health professionals is paramount to protecting all of us.
Currently, I am a freelance medical writer and practicing veterinarian. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Medical Writers’ Association.
I look forward to working with you.
Sincerely, Kathy Adamson, DVM

The Nuts and Bolts:
What I do: Project Management and Copywriting.
Working for small businesses in their start-up taught me how to wear a lot of hats, leave my ego at the door, and work together to achieve success for the company or client. One of my greatest strengths is mediating between departments and vendors - whether it's working toward product, website, or brand development.
I'm a sucker for the arts. I started moonlighting at a non-profit art-house cinema four years ago and would still be there had I not moved to Chicago. I also served on the board of a non-profit arts organization heading up communications, public relations and co-organizing fundraising campaigns.
I love working intimately with a particular brand, but I find doing freelance copywriting to be invaluable for developing my ability to write for different brands, companies, and voices.
I have an educational background in writing and literature, a chunk of which was paid for by teaching Composition and Creative Non-Fiction Writing to university students.
The first time I actually got paid to write and edit was during my seminary days while getting my MA in Theological Studies. I made my spending money editing other students' theses and writing youth devotional stories for a Christian publishing company.

I enjoy writing in a style that engages and entertains the reader. When writing for a client, I always keep the audience in mind while adhering to the client's tone of voice and brand standards. Whether retail ecommerce (B2C or B2B), technology, or ghost-writing letters for C-level executives, I pride myself on polished, professional copy that receives attention.

Lynda is a particularly talented wordsmith who can craft a story in a captivating way while being efficient with her use of words and being able to do it quickly. I have worked with other writers who are great with words, but write much too long (sometimes painfully long!) or can't make a deadline. I've also worked with people who can meet the deadline, but their story lacks punch. Lynne Reichmann, Desiger

My role as Communications Manager for a Bay Area mobile technology company keeps me on my toes. Proposals, press releases, social media content, manuals, video scripts -- it's never dull!
Before moving to California, I served nine years as a proposal writer, editor, and manager in the healthcare technology industry, specializing in the creation of digital and print proposals, white papers, and marketing materials for varied audiences both domestic and international. As the years flew by the challenges mounted -- my workplace grew from a company of 800 employees and 118 total RFP projects in 2003 to a corporation of over 3,500 employees serving customers around the world with 245 annual projects in 2011.
Prior to that, I worked as a writer and retail associate in the liquor industry with a strong focus on wine. My current volunteer work as Lead Storyteller for Berkeley Humane in Berkeley, CA includes writing and editing weekly posts to match the organization's vision and goals, collaborating with Berkeley Humane staff, and managing a small team of volunteer writers. I can honestly say that writing is my life. I've loved music ever since I was a young child bobbing my head in the backseat of my aunt's car singing a grown up song like I knew what I was talking about (laughs). Maybe it has something to do with the fact that while in the womb my mom would always play music; maybe it was simply meant to be. Here I am, Malecia Bynum 25 years later an established songwriter and storyteller. My very first song "Best Friend" took 3 years to complete and since then, I made it a mission to just be me. My songwriting has evolved over the past few years and I'm very proud of my writing style. I have ability to pull deep within myself and creatively depict how I'm feeling and what I'm going through and I also have the ability to transform into another moment, another life and express what "they" deal with and how "they" feel. My songwriting depicts both nonfiction and fictional accounts but my fiction may be your nonfiction and vice versa. I write because it makes me feel good; it gives me hope that one day I will be able to bless the world with the gift God gave me. I'm ready for a new project so feel free to check out some songs in my Writing Samples and let me know what you think and if you're ready to work, then let's go!

LOOKING FOR A WRITER WHO LOVES RESEARCH, CLEAR EXPRESSION, AND COMPELLING ARGUMENTS AND STORIES?
Need someone who can express technical material in reader-friendly language?
Need a writer who's professional, courteous, dependable, fair and fanatic about deadlines?
With 25 years of experience as a journalist, writer and editor in health care, science, technology, economics, public policy and education, I can help you with
WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT ME?
I have tons of ideas and a distinctive personal voice. But I'm also a writing chameleon who'll immerse myself in your preferred style to produce work that seamlessly fits.
Curious about and genuinely interested in -- well, pretty much everything -- I'll pepper you with questions to discover exactly what you hope to accomplish with the written piece.
Pet writing peeve: platitudes and anything that pretends to explain things but doesn't.
Biggest writing passion: Like one of my writing heroes, E.M. Forster, I'm interested in stories -- "the king died and then the queen died" -- but deeply interested in plots -- "the king died and then the queen died of grief." I won't rest until I find the plot in the story you want to tell.

So, take a look and let's talk. I look forward to hearing from you!
Marcia Horn Noyes began her career as a television reporter with KBMT-TV in Beaumont, Texas. At the age of 19, she got her “lucky break” after applying for a position in the production department. Being too young and inexperienced, she was promptly turned away, but hours later, a production crew member tragically fell from a ladder and broke his back. With her job application sitting atop the production manager’s desk, Marcia got the first call to run studio cameras that night. Three months later, the news department moved her into a reporter position and she began reporting news in the Golden Triangle area.
After her stint as the station's youngest television reporter, she moved on to Corpus Christi, Texas where at the age of 24, became the youngest branch manager for a broadcast television equipment company. After ten years in management and account management roles, she returned to writing, first freelancing for local newspapers and magazines, then taking on more prominent roles as Marketing and PR Director for regional publications and eventually a healthcare technology start-up in Denver, Colorado.
Marcia uses her outside passion for long-distance running and varied communications experience to enhance her writing. She now enjoys producing stories and online content that educates, enlightens and inspires an audience; in particular, being drawn to topics related to business, fitness, health, frugality and lifestyle, as well as producing celebrity profiles.
She has written for local, regional and national publications, including Denver Post, Journal of Urgent Care Medicine, Kids' Pages Family Magazine, Southern Living, Enlightened Woman and Chicken Soup for the Body & Soul. Her television work has also appeared on CNN and ABC Morning News.
Marcia is a native Texan and received her B.S. in Mass Communications from Lamar University. She now writes from her homes in Denver, CO and New Braunfels, TX.
Margaret is a journalist with News Corp Australia, working with the Geelong Advertiser. Although she reports on general news and has been known to cover fires, car accidents and sinking boats, her forte is feature writing and she has dedicated sections related to food and the arts. She is also the books editor and theatre reviewer.
Margaret is also a broadcaster with Grant Broadcasters radio network, appearing on-air with Geelong Bay FM which is also heard throughout Melbourne. She is co-host of the weekly Catch-Up show on Wednesdays, along with anchor Mark Hyland. Have a listen on 93.9, between 4-6pm; you'll know her as 'newspaper mama' thanks to the Peter Coombs song of the same name.
A keen traveller, Margaret manages to squeeze in a few overseas trips each year - just last year saw her in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana; Argentina and Patagonia; New Zealand; and a few quick trips to Bali. These adventures form the catalyst for more writing.
And, yes, you guessed right. The photo of the leopard is one Margaret took when she was staying at Ulusaba in South Africa.

I like to think of words as a currency that can change people's minds — and lives. Over the past 20 years, my work with and for organizations that serve others has helped them make a difference. Here is some of my representative work. To view more, click Writing samples.
The creative process is a mystery. A composer hears notes and creates a symphony. An artist has a vision and puts brush to canvas so we, too, can see. A marketing communications writer is able to distill information and present it in a way that informs, persuades, and perhaps even entertains. Words form in my head. I can't explain how. It just happens.
Writing is my passion and during my career, I've written in many formats. No matter the form or the scope, my work carries a common thread. I offer excellent writing carefully crafted to meet the client's needs and objectives. And, I'm fast.
My life and career have been focused on the power of words. Words that convey ideas clearly and invite people to take action. I 've been in the word business for more than 20 years, working in venues that include a Fortune 15 healthcare company, an academic hospital, one of the most esteemed medical schools in the U.S, a healthcare consulting company and most recently, medical communications agencies. My audiences span:
I have created, edited and managed the following from inception through distribution:
So whether you need extra support for a single project or have ongoing needs, I can deliver a broad array of high quality communications that get results.

Words. I'm a freelance writer and they've been my business and pleasure for more than 20 years. Whether writing national newspaper features and books, producing revealing case studies or creating search engine-friendly business copy - I still get the same buzz from meeting a new client or opening a blank page, as a:
I'm experienced and efficient, fast and friendly. I work with you to tell your story on page or on screen - because the science of coding might help attract browsers, but it's the art of inspirational copy which captures and converts them to consumers.
From food to travel, from heritage to social and environmental concerns, I'm a specialist writer with wide interests and a great curiosity. Here are just a few pieces which demonstrate my range. There are plenty more examples on my 'Some I Did Earlier' page, so please feel free to browse...
Welcome to the portfolio page of content creator and manager Martin R. Schneider!
Based out of Philadelphia, Martin Schneider is the co-founder of the film site Front Row Central and also wrote on the Current Releases section of SomethingAwful.com for over three years, as well as guest appearances on other sites. Beyond film criticism, Schneider also writes about pop culture and society, feminist and minority issues, political discourse, sports, music, and more words about Nicolas Cage than anyone will ever need to read in their life.
Martin Schneider has also written and edited e-mail, social media, and web based marketing campaigns and ad content for the travel, gaming, men's grooming, and software development industries, including campaigns for Intel Corporation. His content features a unique and adaptable style which can fit the needs of any product or site.
Over the years, I've thought a lot about what it is that I actually do. More than anything else, I think I'm in the business of trust - the trust you need from clients in order for them to choose to do business with you. We all know how complicated health care is. Its unique function, language, cost structure, set of legislated provisions, regulations, and policies — and range of perspectives on dealing with them.
Consulting as a senior-level writer and strategist for a diverse group of leading health care companies, I hear the disparate conversations taking place across the industry. Recognizing where everyone is coming from helps me to craft precise messages for targeted audiences.
Sure, I can save you time, too. Knowing just what to say and how to frame it helps get to the point, fast. It's also little things like avoiding misplaced modifiers and knowing where all of those little marks - "[,/(%?])"' - go. And of course it's the big things, like getting the flow of the copy right. It's avoiding what could stop a document dead at regulatory or a clinician's review and send it screaming back with strikes and revisions.
But more than anything else, it's about trust These days, we're pouring so much effort into SEO outreach and strategies that implore clients to check us out - that increase search engine rankings. That generate leads. And yes, this is key. However, in the rush to get it all out, we have to remember two things: First, we need someone on the other side with decision-making capacity or who can at least recommend us to decision makers. (Are we hitting our targets or talking to the wind?) Second, we need every engagement with decision makers to be positive. To be awesome. This is why I believe each message we send and the way we deliver it must convey all of our talent and competence - right from the start. It's about conveying trust. Yes, I'm a writer, but what I really offer is trust - trust in you.

Specialties and interests:
Absolutely! As a web content editor and copywriter, I utilize both minds - analytic and creative - with great success.
I don my analytic/critical thinking hat to dive into research; uncover the challenges, needs and desires of my target audience or prospective clients; write content that addresses these issues and offers a solution (always mindful of search engine optimization); and track results.
More on the left side: I'm a huge grammar nerd! My pet peeves are misuse of commas and semicolons, run-on sentences, and improper paragraph breaks. Give me an editing pen and let me go to work!
Of course, the creative/intuitive aspect of copy writing and content marketing also brings great reward. Curating information and offering a new twist, crafting a compelling article or blog post, finding just the right image to complement the copy, and creating new campaigns all go under the category of "Why I Love My Job".
When creativity meets critical thinking, that's when the magic happens! My goal is to write content that delights, informs, and inspires. Bringing a smile to my reader's face? Helping solve a problem? Priceless!

Welcome to my website!
I'm very excited about my latest project, THE MAN WHO LOVED ELEPHANTS: 30 Years with the Elephants of Oregon's Washington Park Zoo. This narrative nonfiction celebrates one man's devotion to the largest herd of breeding elephants in captivity. The book is complete at 79,900 words, contains over 100 photographs, and is currently being shopped around to publishers and agents. (You can read excerpts by clicking on the 'Writing Excerpts' tab above.)
“You can make an elephant do one of two things,” Roger Henneous is fond of saying. “Run away or kill you. But you can get an elephant to do an amazing number of things.” With only a farm-boy upbringing and a fair degree of salty common sense to guide him, he developed a relationship with his animals unlike any seen before. In an era when elephant handling often involved chains, beatings, electrocution, isolation, and starvation, Roger chose to approach them with compassion, creating an environment of mutual respect where the elephants could live as naturally as possible. From sweet-natured Belle to knife-wielding Hugo, he served as the herd’s surrogate mother, mentor, analyst, playmate, teacher, and friend … even when they sent him to the hospital. When illness struck and they began to die one after another, he fought back by every means available.
At a time when elephant care and conservation are at the forefront of worldwide interest and debate, THE MAN WHO LOVED ELEPHANTS provides a look at zookeepers directly at odds with those who wish to paint them all as monsters. Roger’s story shows what can be achieved when thoughtfulness, empathy, and intelligence override impatience and cruelty.
As a former Washington Park Zoo (now Oregon Zoo) volunteer, I was fortunate to have direct involvement with Roger and his herd. The idea of writing about them has lurked in the back of my mind for nearly 20 years, but the time was never right ... until suddenly it was. Roger's willingness to talk about his life with the elephants - even the most painful parts - is what makes this story possible. I will never be able to adequately convey my appreciation and profound respect.
In other news:
I have had two stories accepted for an upcoming anthology, TRICKS AND TREATS: HORROR STORIES BY CONNECTICUT AUTHORS, which should be out in time for Halloween.
I've begun research into the American Civil War in preparation for what I hope will be my next book, tentatively titled, HER LAST FULL MEASURE. I also have another idea on the back-burner, waiting for it to tell me what it what's to be when it grows up. Working title, "Good Neighbors." Plus, there's a slew of short story bits and pieces I need to hammer into shape.
My past work includes media tie-in novels for Star Trek, Quantum Leap, and Earth 2, as well as an original fantasy Weathercock. My short fiction has appeared in the ezine Allegory, the collection Darling Wendy and Other Stories, and in Amoskeag: The Journal of Southern New Hampshire University. My nonfiction work has appeared in Chicken Soup for the Soul, the Journal of the American Geriatric Society, NARHA's Strides, and ASPCA's Animal Watch.
I'm proud to be a regular participant in The Exquisite Project at Bill Library in Ledyard, CT. In 2015, I had the pleasure of being involved in Connecticut Humanities "The CT Caper," a story written in serial form employing the talents of twelve writers and artists from across the state.
Until recently, I maintained a semi-regular blog, "The Wild Ride" chronicling my experience as caretaker to my mother, who suffered from dementia. Mom passed away in June 2015, so the blog has grown somewhat fallow, but I drop in from time to time to write about the grief process or provide a shoulder for someone who needs to vent about their experiences as a caretaker. It's important to realize that you're not alone.
Now that my time is once again my own -- more or less -- I'm looking forward to finding new projects that challenge me as a writer.

All my life, people have been telling me their stories. In elevators, in line at the supermarket, in all manner of waiting rooms. I chalk it up to having a familiar face and asking the right questions. And I love every minute of it. As a writer, I aim to re-spin those stories to reveal the binding thread of each subject's life.
Of course, it's not all herbal tea and Underwoods. I'm a versatile working writer who can channel a consistent voice across mediums to varied audiences. For me, writing-for-hire is a process much like composing a sonnet: Creativity within a predetermined structure can be as exhilarating as a blank page.

Hi, I'm MJ Vieweg.
Call me a curious correspondent who can reveal the heart of a story. And it is true, everyone does have a story. It can be a story about their life, business, vision, art or a story about a few moments in one particular day; and it is always one worth telling.
I've written dozens of general interest articles for local publications that run the gamut from entrepreneur profiles to luxury home appliances. For three years, I blogged about life raising two teen sons as a single parent for a community forum. My work has appeared in publications in North Carolina and Massachusetts.
Crafting the story well is as important to me as meeting deadlines. If you have a story, but don't have the words to tell it - have no worries - because I can tell it for you.
Hi, my name is: Monica Shaw. I'm a writer and web consultant with a penchant for food.
As a freelance writer, I write frequently about food, marketing, business and social media for publications such as The Daily Telegraph, Chef Magazine, Food Magazine and The Writer. I'm a member of the Guild of Food Writers and also write a successful health and fitness blog at smarterfitter.com.
As a web and social media consultant, I work mainly with chefs, restaurateurs, food brands and other food writers to help them use the internet to improve their businesses. With an MSc in applied mathematics and research experience in statistics, my main focus is on analytics. I love data, and I use it as much as possible to solve problems and prove that the solutions actually work. You can learn more about my webby work at monicashaw.com.
I live, work, write, cook, eat, and play from a converted barn in the Wiltshire countryside.

Hi, welcome to my online portfolio. Thank you for taking the time to stop by. I'm a marketing professional with extensive copywriting experience.
I enjoy the creative process, whether it is starting with a blank canvas or expanding on an existing idea. I like working in a team and collaborating to bring the best ideas to life. My experience includes copywriting, editing, branding and project management for both B2B and B2C. I adapt my writing to the needs of my clients, their voices, their brands, and what will work best to generate the results they want.
Here's a sampling of my work to get you stated. Click on the Writing Samples tab at the top to see more.
Welcome to my page! My name is Nicole Meyers and I am a writer living in the Silicon Valley area. My husband and I just moved here and love the weather, the technology and being so close to San Francisco.
I'm a dedicated and experienced writer, currently a communications specialist at realtor.com in Santa Clara, California. I have a year of experience writing for two newspapers, over four years of technical writing and two years experience as a communications specialist with an internal communications focus.
I've learned so many great skills in my positions, from learning how to multitask and work on a strict newspaper deadline, interacting and collaborating with executives on precise details of lending policy, to working with clients for an HR consulting firm on benefits guides, employee guides, PowerPoint presentations, e-Magazines, internal publications, social media and much more. I also have experience writing in HTML, content management systems, web content, and designing digital signs for corporate news messaging.
Writer.Travel hungry. Adventure hungry. Hungry in general. Cat whisperer. Living vicariously through myself. My talents include re-watching Friends, booking spontaneous holidays and performing in the car. In 10 years I see myself still figuring out how to fold a fitted sheet. Join me as I write about stuff.
If I could only sing as well as I write ...
My writing "voice" covers at least three octaves, from the low, steady notes (serious news writing, reports and training manuals) to middle-C level (brochures, corporate communications and letters) to the upper ranges (e-blasts, e-newsletters, ads, promos, direct mail, radio spots). I successfully change my pitch depending on my audience.
I'm a writer and editor with additional experience as a broadcast producer, newscaster and reporter. I've studied several foreign languages, traveled internationally many times and experienced life to the fullest. As a result, my writing is enhanced by all that I've seen, done and read.
I’ll admit it: I’m a travel junkie with no interest in any type of a 12-step program to tame my addiction. I live and breathe international travel. Throughout my many journeys, I've gathered recipes, spices and strange cooking utensils (such as a weird little lime squeezer that I talked the owner of an Indian restaurant in Manchester, England, into selling me). Food has to be my second passion, and I love to infuse my writing with as much spice and variety as I do in my recipes.
Describing nuts and bolts may not be as exciting as describing a desert trek through the Sahara on the back of a camel, but it's certainly something I can do. I'm quick, versatile and can write about anything with enthusiasm and in any style that's required.

I bring thirty-five years of writing experience to every freelance assignment.
I do some Content Creation for corporate, advertising, and web clients. I have profiles on Crowd Content, Constant Content, Crowd Source, and Ghostbloggers.
I have published widely: excerpted chapters from my critical study of the films of Alfred Hitchcock in university journals, to food and lifestyle reviews in online publications such as Olive Oil Times.
I have written about film, painting, sculpture, mixed media, installation, conceptual art, video, photography, dance, architecture, theater, food, wine, travel, politics, social media, and gender.
I believe in Ezra Pound's adage: "Less is More." In other words, I know how to a) listen carefully to what a client wants in a piece, b) construct the most articulate and penetrating way of discussing that particular subject without wasting words or phrases which do not contribute something to the idea.
Welcome to my Homepage! Having retired (Spring 2012) from a 24-year volunteer-role as CoSec/CFO/trustee of an education charity (after ‘winding it up’ due to ‘the cuts’ in UK education funding) I found I had time to attempt a sort-out of my personal ‘archives’ (otherwise known as ‘all that clutter’). Two old storage boxes of yellowing paper were a particularly dusty challenge. I was fairly certain these boxes contained my past ‘writings’, but would have found it difficult to be more specific. After some enjoyable days spent deciphering my handwriting I began to think that there might be quite a few short stories, anecdotes, articles and abandoned novels that, if ‘word-processed’ and ‘copy-edited’ with a more contemporary eye, might be appreciated by a wider readership. Launching this personal website is hopefully a first step to setting up a means of disseminating my ‘refurbished’ work and new material. As they say, ‘Please watch this space!’

I am an engineer with a Masters in Vocational Practise and have had the privilege to develop a strong technical base as well as a rich experience in human development. I have been writing for over twenty years in the specific roles that I have filled and professionally for about 3 years as a service to clients and to various publications. My writing style is direct but conversational and my diverse range of experience gives me the platform to engage with technical audiences, inspirational contexts and the transfer of complex ideas in simple and understandable terms. I am a marketing copywriter, storyteller, editor and proofreader with a strong corporate background and extensive experience with nonprofit organisations.
I have made it my business to understand my market - people. I seek to find out what questions they are asking, their likes and dislikes, the things that appeal to them and things that cause them to lose interest, and most of all the way they engage with communication. I believe that a great writer is someone who understands their reader and how best to engage with them.
Please review some of my work on my portfolio and check out what my clients are saying about me on the testimonial tag. I look forward to hearing your ideas and thoughts to help you turn them into compelling writing - contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more!

In the late 1980s and '90s I created two national collecting crazes -- vintage lunch boxes and vintage cereal memorabilia -- by amassing collections at flea market prices, writing several reference books, launching zines (Hot Boxing and Flake), and flogging it all on radio and TV to enjoy an exploding market and my 45 minutes of fame. Terry Gross was irritating, Matt Lauer smarmy, while Charlie Rose was a riot in person. Madonna once called me in the middle of the night to chat. The downside of a profile in People is getting recognized in line at the post office or in the men's room at Logan.
Most of my writing then served those grandiose schemes, which paid off in many ways. ABCNEWS.com once wrote, "there's a fine line, sometimes, between madness and genius. And Bruce is undeniably a genius, at least when it comes to getting publicity for a pop-culture phenomenon."
Flattering words -- thank you Mr. George Mannes -- but let's face it; I was a better promoter than writer. To paraphrase Freud, my licks inevitably encouraged regression in service of sales. Short, funny pieces to get you laughing --and buying -- were my strength. My most reputable work, a 300 page history -- Cerealizing America: The Unsweetened Story of American Breakfast Cereal-- was co-authored with an another, more disciplined writer, who held my feet to the narrative fire. However, the sidebars from that book -- sampled here -- are all mine.
But that was another incarnation. After 9/11 cleared our skies I wasted a few years crafting a wildly ambitious historical novel about Cromwell, indentured servitude, and the founding of Maine in the 17th century-- I have ancestral connections to the people and places -- but it never panned out. Loved the research in England, Ireland, and the Isle of Shoals, but discovered that I didn't have the chops for fiction. Or screen writing, for that matter. Too loyal to facts.
Still, I can string a few words together when required. A blog might be just the ticket. Try me. I'm not a Jimmy Buffett fan, but if you understand that Margaritaville is a metaphor, not a town on the Mexican border somewhere, we'll probably get along.
Love that salt!

Welcome to Maven World.
By way of a career in trend forecasting, advertising, and a long time love for fashion and pop culture and social issues, I left a full time job at a major ad agency one year ago to focus on a career as a writer. Sure, it's great to work in my pajamas and spend much needed time with my dog, but what's even cooler is people are reading what I have to say. When social media first came around, I was an avid Facebooker- updating statuses and sharing links with vigor. It seemed that my friends were digging it all, so I decided to start a blog that spoke to all the things I love- my muses, fashion sightings, social commentary, and inspirational musings for those looking to agent up a little change in their own lives. I started the blog with no other intention than to start writing on a daily basis- I majored in Journalism in college and writing came very easily to me- and throughout my work life, it didn't. Just like that.
The daily blogging helped me get my groove back, and from that came assignments from brands, marketing communications agencies, and high profile exec types that needed some help from a ghost writer. I love finding the voice of people I admire and enjoy writing op eds, social commentary, and blog posts for those that are too overscheduled to do it themselves. I also love writing about trends, discovering small blips and seismic shifts that affect where we are and where we headed. I read voraciously and have moved back to New York so that I can fully explore what the greatest city in the world has to offer in terms of my creative endeavors. I am always not only seeing what's in the stores, at the movies, or in the restaurants, but really "looking" to spot what's coming.
I can write about most topics from women's issues and trends to healthcare to sex to fashion to music to politics. I love researching, finessing, and taking my voice to today's content driven world. Hello! You've found me.
Need content for your blog? I've got it.
Writing a non-fiction book? I'm your editor/midwife.
Ready to tell me about it? Email email@example.com.
I am a Toronto-based freelance writer, journalist and editor. I have over 15 years experience and hold a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Ryerson University.
My work has appeared in Anokhi Magazine, Good News Toronto, Bluffs Monitor, Beach Metro News and The Hellenic Times.
Here are a few of my writing samples:
I am a seasoned self-starter with more than 15 years of marketing communications, media and public relations, business-to-business marketing, strategic planning and project leadership experience. My specific areas of focus have included: strategic client communications and campaigns, internal and executive communications, media and public relations, website project management and content creation, marketing collateral creation, corporate branding and identity, new business and proposal development, advertising copywriting and placement.
I have proven experience creating strong strategic marketing communications and programs that not only provide thoughtful and measurable results, but are sustainable and adaptable to varying economic cycles and climates. Over the years, I have implemented business-to-business communications and marketing strategies that have helped bridge gaps between company service lines, while uncovering new business opportunities and prospects.
Most recently, as a marketing consultant and contractor, I have leveraged my strong initiative and ownership mentality to quickly ramp up and provide value in a very short amount of time. I am also a 10-year member and volunteer with the American Marketing Association's Houston Chapter. As a former president of the Chapter (2011-2012), I had the luck of meeting and working alongside some of the best and brightest marketers, allowing to me to expand my network and learn from some of the most respected communicators in the country. Even after my presidency, I remain active in the Chapter, as a volunteer and honorary board member.
I am a writer.
I am a published novelist and a produced playwright. I have deep knowledge in the visual and performing arts and in wellness, human behavior, and movement. In the past two years alone I have worked on naming projects, brand narratives and strategy for international consumer brands and have written a half dozen scripts for consumer and business-to-business clients. I have written web copy and articles for national magazines. I have written grants and exhibit narratives. I wrote a TEDx talk for a CEO and one for me too.
My clients enjoy my speed, clarity and voice. I synthesize complex information quickly and am an easy collaborator and/or independent worker. That's why I have had the good fortune to work with Landor (Cincinnati and New York), LPK, Anthem! in San Francisco, FRCH, PPS, RED212, ArtWorks, Cincinnati Ballet, and others over the past many fruitful months.
I am good to have in the room and have yet to disappoint a client.
I am fast. I am authentic. And I am a superb strategic writer.
The relationship between reader and writer is the closest thing we have to telepathy. Together, they create a unique vision. The writer draws the outlines; the reader fills them in. A good writer creates desire within that process so the reader feels a connection to the content that she wants to sustain beyond the time it takes to read the words. In this way, writing is as much about the order of words on a page as the life they inspire beyond it.
I am a writer because I love being part of this process. Let’s create together.
Before I could speak openly to the world, I communicated through my writing. For years, it seemed, writing was the only way in which I knew to speak. And, oddly enough, I was heard. I began writing at a very young age and this talent was later recognized by my being accepted into the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC. There, I specialized in writing, photography and radio production. In my youth, my work won quite a few local contests and was published in some unknown anthologies. That very love of writing and literature – art and music, culture and freedom – propelled me to pursue my BA degree in Humanities and English.
I'm presently working on completing my first novel as well as having a collection of my poetry and short stories. Though my foundation rests on my being a poet and prose writer, I am a freelance creative and commercial writer and editor providing services to individuals, associations, organizations, businesses and publications. For a list of services offered, please click here. Equally, I have written articles for and have become a contributing author with Woman Around Town online magazine.

“Stephani McDow is a gifted and passionate writer who clearly understands the art of capturing the essence of a story through her eloquent choice of words and her mightiest of all weapons – the pen. She’s able to adapt her skills to meet the needs of her clients and produce results that, far beyond exceeds expectations.” ~Hottywood Helps, Celebrity Blogger, HottywoodHelps.com

Successful brands exhibit one common strength: The ability to make a real connection. Great copy tells a story, inspires an emotion, elicits a knowing laugh, feels like a friend.

My name is Dr. Stephen Shaw. My educational background began in Illinois with a major in philosophy at Tolentine College (Villanova University). I then spent four years in Rome, Italy, where I studied a variety of theological subjects, from Comparative Religions, to Old and New Testament Studies, to Biblical archeology (yes, we did scour the catacombs!). While studying in Europe I had the opportunity to attend a number of language institutes, both in Vienna, Austria, Madrid, Spain, and Fribourg, Switzerland (French-speaking). It was a wonderful opportunity to learn other languages and appreciate other cultures. One incident I will never forget. In 1969, I was visiting Prague, Czechoslovakia, on a day-trip from Vienna, and ended up in the middle of the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. We were quickly told by the American embassy to grab our things and take the first bus back to Austria. Soviet tanks rumbled into Prague as we passed headed west towards the Austrian border. It was as you can imagine an unnerving experience but one I won’t easily forget.

Welcome! I'm Steve Dimeo and, inspired at first by the likes of Poe, have been writing fiction and poetry since the late Fifties. My work might best be characterized as romantic yet realistic fantasy and horror, often with a science-fiction bent. I've appeared in magazines as varied as Oui (when Playboy Enterprises still owned it) and Woman's World to the Michigan Quarterly Review and Descant. I've been lucky enough to win the 1984 Frank O'Connor fiction award as well as Tall Tales' 2nd Prize ($250) in 2006. I've also won the $25 3rd Place National Writer's Club in 1984, $50 1st Place in Oregon's 1996 Bright Wings Poetry Contest (published in The Oregonian) as well as publication in the 2003 Emily Dickinson Awards Anthology.
I'm a writer/clinical psychologist with a part time practice in NYC. The mystery of being human is my obsession: from the played out scenes of childhood that become the internalized rules we live by. (from "I don't wanna eat vegetables!" to " I don't wanna exercise!")
My boyhood summers were happily spent in my father’s Bronx typewriter repair shop amidst the inner works of writing machines: Royals, Remingtons, Underwoods, et al . My undergraduate degree was financed by my father's endless cleaning out of the white-out /ink erasure remains that gummed up mechanical keyboards. (References from an older generation...FYI Google: "typewriters”)
Now semi-retired, I'm returning to a different kind of keyboard writing. (Though QWERTY remains, my father would be bemused by the “delete” key, which surely would have put him out of business.)
I'm a British Columbia-based web editor and writer who has been writing travel-related articles for over five years, as well as website content, online campaign communication, industry newsletters and the odd magazine article.
Last year I was a member of the Department of Technology for US President Barack Obama's reelection campaign in Chicago. Prior to my stint at Obama for America, I spent five years working full time as a web editor and interim content manager for a leading Canadian travel website. I've also worked as a ski photographer in the US and a project coordinator for an non-governmental organization in the UK. My most recent projects include designing, building and writing content for independent websites.
In addition to crafting or tweaking content and copy, I relish photography, web publishing and project management.
Here are a few of my writing samples:
I’m a full-time, New York-based freelance writer/researcher/project manager with a long track record working in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors.
I’ve worked for some of the largest consulting firms and financial firms, supporting professionals by performing “hard to find” research, drafting policy papers and corporate presentations, crunching numbers for graphic displays, and wrangling/managing input from international teams that have been asked to contribute to corporate publications.
This year, I've been freelancing for Cornell NYC Tech, Comcast Local Media Development, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Corporate Communications team in New York City. I report, write, and edit stories for MTA's daily employee on-line newsletter, MTA TODAY. I cover a wide range of topics, including Arts for Transit projects, new apps, the what goes on behind the scenes to make the transportation in New York run flawlessly, and getting back to normal after Hurricane Sandy. At Cornell NYC Tech, I'm working with the faculty to take their visionary, early-stage start-ups in the arena of small data and mobile health and creating copy for pitch books, grantmakers, and private funders.
My other recent work includes an arts and culture blog on soon-to-close museum shows, ItsNewstoYou; grant writing, brochures, web copy, donor, and promotional materials for arts nonprofits in New York City; and a needs assessment for a new museum’s strategic plan. Past work also includes scripts for fund-raising spectaculars, art reviews, and think pieces.
Last year I launched a report series on museums in New York, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia and their use of social media.
Take a look at my writing samples, which show a variety of styles:

I am a writer. I'll write anything you ask me to because I love to work. Do you need a commercial? I can do it. Do you need a blog about why your 6 month old is the cat's ass? I'll write it. Do you need a feature about a guy who kills people but really isn't a sociopath? Got one. A 30 minute single-camera comedy about...well, I am not at will to say but yes, I have one of those too. Promos, manifestos, pilots, screenplays, shorts, sketches and everything in between, I'm your gal. Hi, I'm Sydney!
I'm a recent graduate of Michigan State University where I received a degree in communication and a specialization in public relations. During my time as a student I completed three internships covering five industry sectors where I gained invaluable experiences developing, implementing and managing communication tactics from research to executive interviews.
With eternal curiosity and a side of humor, I embrace challenges and aim to bring new perspectives that will “wow” clients with creativity and results. I am currently working as an intern at FleishmanHillard and I am looking for an entry-level position at an agency where I can continue to grow my zeal for public relations. This portfolio contains writing samples from my schoolwork, internships and travel blog.

Hi, dear readers, you've landed on the web-page of Taja Kramberger, a poet, writer, translator, essayist and historical anthropologist (PhD from history and historical anthropology) born in Slovenia (by then Yugoslavia). She is engaged in public sphere for the rights of people.
She is the author of 10 collections of poetry and 2 books for children. She also writes essays, columns, articles and books in social sciences, and translates from French, English, Italian and Spanish. All togehter - in fields of literature and social sciences & humanities - she either edited, translated or wrote around 60 publications and more than two hundred shorter texts.
Here's the cover of the last poetry book published in Slovenian language (V tvojem objemu je prostor zame / In Your Embrace, There's a Place For Me, CSK, Ljubljana, 2014)
In her childhood she lived in a small Venetian town Koper-Capodistria at the seaside (10 km from Trieste), later she moved with her family to the capital of Slovenia - Ljubljana, where she has done her studies in history and archeology. Later, in 2004, she moved once more to Koper upon the invitation of a brand new university which was about to be built there to help building its infrastructure. Together with her husband and intellectual collaborator Drago Rotar they wrote the whole program of historical anthropology for the university (for the Faculty of Humanities there in Koper). After they did that, that is after they helped in many ways organizing a solidary and open academic community (Taja Kramberger was 2 years a president of Collegium artium, a team of academic teachers, teaching assistants and students, in the frames of which more than 100 of cultural events were executed on a voluntary non-paid basis and this vivid dynamic began to connect local people with the univesity), and after the program of historcal anthropology was accredited by the state ministry, in 2010 a sudden and totally illegal purge of critical intellectuals happened at the Faculty of Humanities and she lost her university post. Though she put charges against the university and finally got a small indemnity (around 2 salaries after more than a year of increasing pressures and intrigues in every possible and impossible way one can think of), she - together with her husband Drago Rotar - decided in 2012 to leave the country and continue their struggle and work in Paris.
"Taja Kramberger is a master of balance between intellectual and emotional aspects that collide in her highly singular poetic language, and is considered to be one of the leading voices in political and socially sensitive poetry in Slovenia. Over the years her poetry became simpler in expression, stronger and sharper in political dimension, yet still brilliantly charged with touchy lyrical moments and ocassionally bright (human) humor." (From the jury speech at the occasion of Veronika Prize 2007)
Her poetry is widely translated and she has participated at many international meetings, literary festivals and round tables around the world in the last 15 years. She has been shortlisted for some literary awards, and in 2007 got Veronika Award for the best poetry book of the year 2006 in Slovenia. She was a receiver of some national and international literary fellowships, such as writer in residence of the Edition Thanhaeuser in 2000, one year State Fellowship (Ministry of Culture, Republic of Slovenia) for the "topmost artistic achievements" in Slovenia in 2005. Though in 2012 and 2013 (after the illegal university purge that took her away the job and salary – i. e. the existential base in Slovenia), when she applied for the same fellowship, she was proclaimed by the newly formed state Agency for book (replacement for the old Ministry of culture) and its literary committee (document dated on 3rd March 2012 and much the same document a year later) »not any more a topmost literary artist« in Slovenia – as the committee says – »in the last period«.
She directed a few international meetings of poetry and translation (among them projects Linguaggi di-versi in 2002 and Sealines in 2006, financially supported by the EU "Culture 2000" program), and was between 1995-2012 invited to more than 60 international poetry festivals around the world. In June/July 2012 she participated at the World Poetry Parnassus in London, the biggest poetry event ever performed in the UK - organized by the Southbank Centre as a unique cultural manifestation in the Olympic Year.
Together with two other poets (Tatjana Jamnik and Barbara Korun) she is a co-founder of the KONS-International Literary Award ® which is given to the poets on one hand for their lifetime achievements in poetry and on the other hand for their integrity and many sided social engagements for the improvement of circumstances and general conditions for work and creativity in their respective environments. It is given in the spirit of verses "forgive me [poetry] for helping you understand / that you're not made of words alone." written in 1974 (Poetic Art) by the Salvadoran poet Roque Dalton (1935-1975).
KONS-International Literary Award ® laureats till now were: IZTOK OSOJNIK, Slovenia (2011), CLARIBEL ALEGRIA, Nicaragua / El Salvador (2013)
Taja Kramberger selected, translated and wrote and introductory study to the Claribel Alegria's Slovenian book: VEC KAKOR ZLOSCEN KAMEN / MAS QUE PIEDRA PULIDA (2013). Here's a presentation of the book in Koper in 2013:

My name is Talia Rinaldo, I am a bubbly and enthusiastic twenty three year old. Growing up in the small country town of Myrtleford in north east Victoria, I moved to Geelong in 2012 to undertake university studies.
I have recently graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in journalism) & Bachelor of Management (majoring in human resource and marketing).
I aim to get a variety of hand-on experience that will be significant in achieving my dreams, benefiting my studies and help me become more confident in this type of industry.
As part of my journalism degree, I undertook a three week internship at the Warrnambool Standard in 2013. At the Standard, I was able to see the inner workings of a real newsroom and was welcomed with enthusiatic mentors. I was lucky to have a variety of articles published, for both The Standard and The Warrnambool Extra.
In 2014, I undertook another three week internship with the Geelong Advertiser which reinforced and added to my previous knowledge. I had a variety of articles published for the Advertiser, Geelong News and the Echo.
Below is a list of all the articles I had published, both online and in print. *Some headlines differ slightly from print and online but the text remains the same.
Every customer has a story. Content provides the means to discover and share their story to build trust.
Content is about connecting with B2B and B2C customers in an entertaining and informative way so they see you as a valuable and trusted resource.
But writing alone is not enough. The back-end of effective content involves strategy and goals. Every piece of content should have a purpose and it should be monitored, measured, and repurposed across multiple channels so you get the maximum value for your investment.
Here are just a few of the goals your content should achieve at different stages of the funnel:

Hi, you've reached Tim Harding. I'm not home right now. Please leave a message after the tone.
Hi Tim, what do you do?
So, why do you have a website?
Well, um... I don't know really. Sometimes I update my blog so that people (the two or three who read it) know what I'm up to (Hi Mum!).
What are you doing here with a Writer's Residence website?
Is that sensible?
Possibly not, WriRes is designed to meet a very specific need for a very specific customer but I might just learn something about it if push its limits a bit.
Do you fancy yourself as a bit of a writer then?
No. Not even a little bit. But I can type so sometimes I mash keys to find out what emerges.

The best thing about being a copywriter is the chance to immerse yourself in different worlds, walk around and try them on for size, and convince others to do the same.
Through my work as a writer and editor, I've explored aspects of: commerce, philanthropy, education, governing, technology, international trade, science, urban development, medicine, filmmaking, finance, human and animal welfare, and more.
(That was a long list. Thanks for sticking it out.)
You'll find samples of that work on this website, if you'd like to try them on for size.
I am a skilled writer, editor, and content manager actively open to positions that use my deep experience in a variety of industries to create web copy and editorial content that is clear, concise, and compelling.

Thanks for stopping by my website! I am a freelance writer and copywriter who specializes in finding the unique angle for any topic tossed my way. I have published children's books, sports articles, a craft beer column, reviews, and many ad campaigns. Regardless of the topic or the medium, I love to get to the heart of my topic and bring its true story to the surface. It could be the way an estranged aunt influenced my interview subject or the special meatball mix that makes a grocery store a step above the local competition.

Vin Phoenix (originally David North), was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1973. Growing up in the suburb of South New Brighton, when not at school, Vin spent a large amount of his childhood years at the local parks and the beach. Vin went to the local school of South New Brighton primary and at the age of 11 discovered a passion for creative writing.
At high school Vin pursued subjects which would help with his goal of becoming a bestselling author, becoming one of only two male typing students at his school.
"At the age of 15 there was nothing better than being in a class full of young women, even if I did get looked at strangely sometimes. It was worth it. Even if it didn't help my dating life very much at the time."
Vin spent some time away from the world of writing after he left high school, moving around New Zealand and pursuing retail jobs before deciding to become more involved again with crafting stories.
"I always used to write, but it was something that I did spasmodically. I didn't really know what I was doing, and there was no training available at that stage at all. I'd kind of given up in a lot of ways. But, that changed when I found an add in the local paper for a creative writing course based in Australia. I did it by correspondence and slowly I began to gain a bit more confidence. It wasn't exactly a good time in my life though, and it took me a long time to complete it."
At the age of 34 Vin moved to Wellington where he completed a Certificate in Comprehensive Writing that he had started when still living in Christchurch and an Historical Fiction Writing Certificate. At the same time he studied a Diploma in Creative Writing and an Advanced Diploma in Creative Writing from Whiteria Polytechnic. After this he completed a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in history and English, with a strong emphasis on creative writing related subjects, and at the same time completed a Certificate in Arts. His final course was a Diploma of Publishing, also from Whiteria Polytechnic, which he completed in 2015.
"Yeah, you could say I overdid it in the qualification department. But, people underestimate the value of getting educated when it comes to creative writing. I think it's because there is this idea out there that crafting stories is easy, that you can just pick up a pen and write. But, there's a lot more to it than that, as any writer will tell you."
Vin currently lives in Wellington where he continues to write horror and fantasy stories. His tales are known for their uncompromising style and dark themes.
I am a writer. I am a writer. I am a writer.
I had to learn to say those four little words without adding the proverbial "but". And finally ... it stuck.
I write because I must, because somehow it helps me to work through the "conundrums" that are my life. And I write to tell the stories for those who cannot.
MEADOWLARK, my first published work of literary fiction, was released by NeWest Press September 2015. Please see "Writing Samples" and "NOVELS" for an excerpt.

I am passionate about storytelling and writing.
If I weren't, I wouldn’t have studied journalism in college. It’s an area of study that many would consider obsolete in current times, but I beg to differ. I believe solid writing skills are key to building a strong foundation of communication. Sometimes my writing is strictly intellectually based, but most often it is driven by my human emotion.
I am a big proponent of lifelong learning. While working towards my certification in Adobe web design, I fell in love with technology and its ability to enhance and enrich our daily lives. Since then, I've been exploring the social and cultural implications of digital media and the Internet, looking deeply at what effects both have on our humanity, specifically in the areas of youth and learning.
I’m a professional writer and a Princeton graduate with a strong background in financial services, marketing communications, corporate communications, wealth management, and information technology, and I have extensive Web writing experience.
I'm accustomed to high-output, deadline-driven environments, and I have adapted my writing style to appeal to widely varying target audiences. I'm a specialist in marketing communications, internal communications, and wealth management.
